My daughter and I recently spent 2 nights at the Waikiki Gateway on our way to Maui. The room was very nice with 2 lanais, 1 of which overlooked a park and the ocean. It was clean, had a small fridge and was great value for the price. The included continental breakfast was adequate to start the day. The 4th floor... more

My family of nine stayed in three rooms (w/kitchenettes) for seven nights. The room was comfortable and clean, the service was good. We had valet parking for two cars for half price and free Internet as a part of a special kitchenette offer. The elevators worked (they didn't at another hotel we stayed in last December. Room rates seemed fair.... more

We would like to take this opportunity to say "Mahalo" to our guests and your vote of confidence. It is truly satisfying to hear that most of you enjoyed your stay with us including the overall value you experienced. While it seems impossible to please everybody, rest assured that we will continue to try our best. Take care until we...

This hotel is located at the quiet end of Kalakaua Ave with a park across the street. The rooms are on the small side but there is enough space for a suitcase which is the only thing that actually resides in the room. There is a fridge available although not defrosted routinely. The bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom... more

Some positives & negatives: Negatives: outdated decorating in rooms, rust in tub (I certainly wouldn't have a BATH - only shower!), mirror finish worn off, laundry facilities only had 1 working washer and 1 dryer for the entire hotel, internet access very slow, street noise very loud in room, valet parking made the price of staying there more expensive. Positives:... more

Since I do quite a bit of business travel, I would rate this hotel as average and a good deal. The room was clean ( a little worn, but so are even the best hotels), the bathroom was always clean, the staff was very helpful, the cost of parking was very fair ($7.50 per day), considering other resorts charge four... more

This is a hotel which looks after a traveler's needs well. It is basic, not flash but clean. The bathroom is cleaned every day. Towels are white, fluffy and the shower has strong water flow which gives you a decent shower every day. Unlike some 4 star hotels which will give you a shower head with a water flow restriction... more

My sincere thanks once again to the wonderful staff at the Waikiki Gateway for their great service during my stay from May 3rd to May 17th, 2009. Mahalo to Jon Tanaka, Front Desk Manager, Kainoa, Front Desk Clerk, Viola, Security, and Tom, Week-end Desk Clerk. They all made my two week stay so pleasant. This hotel is in a great... more

Stayed here for 4 nights after a cruise from Sydney to Hawaii before flying back home to Melbourne at the end of April/ beg May 09. The rooms are large and clean, but very old and dated. We stayed on the 11th floor which did not have any bad smells but other floors do . It is noisy, but is... more

Hopgood1, thank you for expressing your concerns about our hotel and particularly the daily breakfast. While we appreciate your suggestions on using China dishware, it would be almost impossible to wash as there is no commercial dishwasher on that floor. It would also be impossible to control the inventory as we do not restrict guests to dining in the breakfast...

I only stayed for 3 nights, but very pleasant stay. Not very close to Beach but makes for a good walk past shops, and i rented a scooter which I was able to park free of charge. The room did smell, possibley from water damage to the carpet, but was ok after air con is on, and NO bedbugs! Awesome.... more

We stayed here in April 09 for 4 days. Room was good but faced the major road junction and even on the 9th floor was noisy but a quiet hotel in Wakiki would be hard to find. The fish restaurant on the ground floor had closed down and there was no activity person at the desk. It was a short... more
