I was looking for a hotel close to Waikiki and found the Equus at the last minute and booked my room for three days just hours before we travelled to Honolulu. What a great find! Clean rooms and the most sumptuous beds with lots and lots of soft pillows. We slept like babies! I can't wait to go back and... more

We just came back from Hawaii, where we hope to return in the near future. We stayed for a full week at The Equus. Rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. Beds were very comfortable and full of pillows. There is no ocean or mountain view, but the hotel is so well located that we didn't need a view from... more

I am a frequent business traveller to Honolulu and have stayed in a variety of hotels and condos. The location of the Equus on the quieter side of waikiki, closer to Honolulu's business districts is very convenient.Parking and access is quick and easy, making it effortless to drive in and out during the day for appointments elsewhere.Rooms are beautifuly done and the... more

The Equus at first seemed to be quite a good value in hotel. We checked in on a Tuesday, which happened to be Mohito night, which they served complimentary from 5-6. That is about where it ended. We have currently been without hot water for the last 3 days, with their short term fix to go to a sister hotel... more

My son and I stayed in Hawaii for 16 days and travelled to 4 islands. We stayed in Honolulu for 4 days at the Equus Hotel. The room was very nice with the best beds and pillows of our entire trip and we stayed at other places that were a great deal more expensive. The hotel staff was very friendly... more

Pleasant staff, excellent bed. I was only in the room to sleep as I was attending a conference and sight-seeing. Stay elsewhere and pay double or triple if you're looking for an ocean view or other amenities. more

I am an Aqua hotel fan. Having stayed and reviewed Hotel Renew and Coconut, both old Waikiki properties, upgraded and made funky, I had higher than usual expectations for Equus. The hotel was booked by my secretary on order to "book one of those great Aqua properties." The price is cheap: about $82/night, all in, including tax. Unfortunately, Acqua misses... more

We've already stayed in the heart of Waikiki several times in the past and this time appreciated being so close to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The area was still noisy but didn't affect sleeping. The continental breakfast was simple but certainly adequate and food prep staff very friendly, a nice bonus. The room seemed very clean and was attractively... more

I've stayed here several times, and would dread having to go back to the huge tourist tourist hotels. Hemingway would feel comfortable here. Nice antique decor, right size building, good personality, starting with the gleaming brass that greets you entering the courtyard. Rather than being modern, this hotel is decorated in the old style, though tastefully redecorated just recently. Comfortable... more
