The hostel is very close to the beach and to a lot of bars. Actually we met awesome people and had a great time but bathrooms are really dirty and also the beds are not comfortable and full of sand. The staff is not really friendly or helpful - anyway after 5 weeks of traveling we saw a lot and... More

Very good location, walking distance from Waikiki beach and several bus stops. (About half an hour away from the UH Manoa campus and KCC at Diamond Head for your prospective students.) Right on the same street is another hostel and a place you can rent a scooter or moped to tour the island. Also near at hand: a convenience store... More

If you're in Hawaii and want to stay in a bedroom all day then you're crazy. We stayed in a semi-private room, a little warm, but it's Hawaii. The bed was comfortable, the shower was brilliant - especially for blasting jet lag and sand off. The hostel is in a great location, so close to the beach! The free pancakes... More

So obviously youre looking for an affordable place to stay near enough to all the tourist stuff. This place is great! Right by the water, extremely affordable and has all the basic things you need (communal kitchen area, free wifi that works, hangout space, lockers, bed and showers) I stayed for a week and had no problems what so ever,... If I can give you advice, do NOT stay here. If you are staying in a hostel, I would suggest Waikiki beach side hostel right next door. I stayed at Waikiki beach side for 4 nights and it was amazing. Great service, great atmosphere, and nice clean rooms. The Polynesian hostel has a very uninviting feel to it and the... More

Ha ! This property and its management were a doosy. Run by two AMerican geezers who believed they had just one gold medals in the Olympics for being able to run this dump. They had two silly nick-names I will never remember. WOnder how long they'll last? Anyways, wound up staying here a whole month, only because I could not... More

I was on holiday basically just to see the beach so didn't spend a lot of time in my room. The shower was probably the biggest letdown - barely any water pressure which made getting all the sand off me a challenge. It was very noisy in the mornings, lots of delivery trucks etc so I didn't get a great... More

This was the first stop on our global adventure. We booked our beds through Hostelworld.com and when we arrived expecting to pay the amount on the invoice, we were advised it was "plus tax". This wasn't too much of a drama (seems everywhere in the USA is the same), just annoying that it wasn't declared on the booking site. Our... More

We came from Australia and New Zealand where the level of hostels seems to be much higher. So this felt like a huge jump down! Reminded us more of Thailand than a Western country hostel. But its cheap. Very cheap for Hawaii. It's one road from the beach. $20 gets you on a day tour (they run a west, north... More
