We had a great stay for one night after a boat cruise from Wainae Boat Harbor. It was closer to stay there then travel back to the North Shore that night. This is a very relaxing place. The pool was great and it was very relaxing to stay in a building with just a few rooms. I really don't care... more

Rent a car through Priceline and don't pay more than $25 a day, even try $20. You might be surprised at what comes up. That's what I did. You'll need a car to get to the resort. Our stay was great. Yeah, the parking leaves something to be desired, but at least you don't have people coming and going outside... more

I stayed at the Makaha Resort and Golf Club over Memorial Day weekend. We are a family of four (kids are 2 and 4) and our group took approximately 8 rooms total. This is a great location to get away from it all. It's nestled in the Makaha Valley approximately 1 hour from the Honolulu Airport and 90 minutes from... more

I would recommend the Makaha to my clients, who like to be away for the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. You do need a car as no shuttle from the airport and only 1 restaruant at the hotel ;unless yo uget the bungalow to make you own meals, which again you would need a car to get groceries. The staff was... more

Absolutely great unless you are a totally spoiled brat who expects marble floors, french cuisine and being carried from place to place by adoring slaves. Beautifuul mountain views and sunsets. Quiet and close to many tourist attractions - unless you think an hour drive through beautiful scenery is a total disgrace. As for the "homeless" people --yes there are some... more

If you do your homework before booking, then it would be not surprise to find the property a fair distance from Honolulu and all of the tourist stops. You would also be aware that the resort is located away from the beach in a beautiful mountain setting. The grounds are lovely, staff very friendly and helpful, with the rooms being... more

Married couple in their 40's traveling with 12 year old son. We experienced great golf time as a couple. Resort staff was fantastic and very helpful for first time Hawaii visitors. There were plenty of activities for our son at the resort. I.e. ukulele lessons, tennis, basketball, exotic fruit tasting and pool activities. The resort is currently being upgraded and... more

This resort is in a very beautiful area. Very quiet ,away from all the bustle in Honolulu. However, the resort itself needs some work. First , we were promised a deluxe suite. What we got was a standard room. When i questioned that i was told that the only difference was that a deluxe room was upstairs...hmmm.. i doubt that.... more

This place was outdated and the staff were not very helpful. The area you have to drive through is terrible. Homeless all over the beaches. I found it disgusting. They did not move the people to the other side of the island. They are still there. There is a homeless shelter right in the area, but they chose to live... more

I stayed three nights at the Makaha in June 2008. It is a great place. It has the feel of a small resort. The rooms are clean and well upkept. The grounds are beautiful with lots of plumeria trees which were in bloom when we stayed. This place is off the beaten path and is not close to Waikki. I... more
