The bad: no A/C. No breeze for our 2 nights. Birds awakened us with beautiful song. The bad: A bit disheveled outside of rooms, but rooms were clean and neat. The good: Great cook and conversationalist; Joanne was a delightful older lady. The good: Lots of room for a party of 8-10; big living room, dining room, bedrooms. The good:... More

Old Hawaiian Charm. Located on one of the best streets in Diamond Head. This multimillion dollar property experience will not be here in the years to come. It is not perfect, but what a fabulous time we had here. JoAnn the owner is 84 and runs the place. Breakfast was unending sitting around a larger table listening to old stories... More

This b and b is in a very convenient location, the hostess is very friendly and will answer your travel questions and give you tips on things not to miss, etc. However, the house has fallen into serious neglect and is sadly pretty dirty and disorganized. While eating breakfast we saw a mouse climbing on the screen door (outside)- then... More

We stayed in the Makai suite for 2 nights, and left this Friday before Hurricane Ana. The view of Waikiki from our lanai was terrific..The lack of a/c was not a problem since the tradewinds come though at night, and there is a fan by the bed. The house is located on a lush acre of trees and bushes. The... More

I put a lot of trust in tripadvisor reviews, but I have never been so perplexed as now when I read recent Diamond Head B&B reviews and compare it to our own 3 night experience. We agree with other reviewers that describe Joanne as "gracious, having a sweet smile-like a favorite aunt", and the atmosphere as "quirky & bohemian." However,... More

We have stayed at Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast on our annual trip to Hawaii for 9 years. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. Joanne has made us feel like one of the family, and we have gotten to know several of her children and 1 of her grandchildren over the years. The location is fabulous--away from the hustle-bustle of Waikiki... More

Some might call it a little bohemian.. but I call it awesome. The location is tucked away at the end of a little crescent - between diamond head crater and Waikiki. I loved the location - close to everything while being hidden away from the hustle bustle of it all. We stayed in the Makai Suite and though it had... More

If you are looking for the full service hotel ambiance - stop reading. If you like to explore and enjoy a homier experience in a pleasant neighborhood in a charming room with a lovely hostess...then continue! I am not claiming perfection but for me, the stay was wonderfully relaxing and without the bustle and hastle of big hotels. This B&B... More

We recently booked the Makai Suite for four nights with Joanne, and were favourably impressed with the accommodation. The room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely large lanai affording views towards Waikiki’s hotels and apartments in the distance. Her sizeable property, which includes a good-sized garden with fruit trees and lawns, is located at the end of a quiet... More

We stayed in November 2013, slept in the Princess' enormous bed - what fun! It's a lovely spacious room with windows and a lanai for cross breezes all night long. We woke to singng birds and floral scents wafting in. Neighborhood is quiet. We'd definitely do it again! It's different from a beachfront hotel. If that's what you'd like, then... More
