the Hale Koa offers everything we need/want for a vacation spot. Plenty to do at and nearby. Amazing beach and beautiful gardens. Not the crowds and hustle of Honolulu but close enough if that's what you want. The Hale Koa staff has always been great (we've stayed 4 times) they are always improving and updating the hotel and grounds. Not... More

Heard that Oahu is too crowded and expensive and you should go to another island? If you happen to have a military affiliation (active, retired, DOD etc), the Hale Koa is a major exception. A self-contained resort located within the Army's Fort DeRussy property so that it's surrounded by acres of open gardens and park areas. Multiple restaurants and bars,live... More

In the crazy world that is Waikiki, the Hale Koa is a nice cool breeze on a Hawaiian Lanai. Since its a military facility, admittance is limited which is great because our men and women who serve will have a wonderful and peaceful time. The rooms are not the most modern with older furnishings and bedding but they are clean... More

Our family did a two week vacation in HI over Christmas. The first 12 days we spent in a condo on the Big Island, the last two were spent in Honolulu at the Hale Koa. My husband has traveled the world and has never enjoyed Hawaii (he had only ever been to Honolulu), it was all I could do to... More

Need a beach day, halekoa has the best deals for lounge chair and umbrella, paddle boards, water bikes, etc. Great service right on the beach, pick your spot and sit back, relax, and enjoy the view of diamond head and the Ocean. Water is calm but beach is a bit rocky once in the water. Nice bar and snacks near... More

Recently returned from a superb week-long vacation at the Hale Koa, where we had an absolutely fantastic stay. The Hale Koa offers tons of amenities, including restaurants, entertainment (luau, magic show, comedy show), a seaside bar (with great mai tais), a couple of pools, an Exchange, an arcade, a tour desk, a hair salon, a flower shop, etc. In all... This hotel is in a beautiful location, right on the beach, with lovely gardens surrounding it. That is the best part. The hotel is dated, with dull drab colors. Shabby, old fashioned furniture in the room. We did have a very nice view from the 10th floor and the room was quite clean, especially the bathroom and our maids were... More

This place is an outstanding value. Great location. Service is well done. We really liked the entertainment available at the hotel. All of the restaurants were good and the food was a bargain for the location. The room was very clean though furniture is of older vintage but the room did have a flat screen tv. Bed was very comfortable.... More

I went to this hotel during a recent stay to Honolulu. Despite the hotel being completely booked, the staff handled our checkin with efficiency and friendliness. Room was not quite ready, waited about 15 minutes, but didn't seem that long. Access to the beach was great, restaurants were fairly priced for the area. The room was incredibly quiet, and sleep came... More

We took our vacation here at Hale Koa in October 2014. The hotel was beautiful, the grounds were well kept. The rooms were clean and always stocked with what you needed. The staff was very attentive and always helpful. They allow you to check out late if you call in advance. There is always something going on in the hotel... More
