We stayed 5 nights, and will return for future stays. Imagine a Moorish pink oasis shaded by towering trees & gardening. In the middle of the hopping Waikiki jungle. It is calm & peaceful, yet lively. It is perfectly nostalgic & grand w/o cheesiness nor pretension. The things we liked most about the hotel: 1. The beautifully renovated room in... more

We decided to book the Royal Hawaiian for our honeymoon after much debate. We had originally booked at the Sheraton and Westin but after talking to a Starwood representative went with the pink palace. Are we ever happy we did. From start to finish we had a wonderful experience. We were greeted with leis and drinks and had a nice... more

The Royal Hawaiian was an amazing place to stay and we were treated great. The Royal Hawaiian also offers 2 different pools depending on what you are there for. The adult pool was quiet and not crowded and the family pool was high energy and a lot of fun. (try the water slide). We had no troubles at check in... more

The old wing of the hotel was recently refurbished and we had 2 junior suites in that part. The rooms themselves were nicely done and very comfortable, although very undersized, I would say that a junior suite there was as large as a regular room in most other hotels. The food at the beachside restaurant was horrible, and the service... more

While the tower has a lovely view of Waikiki and sunsets the older, original, pink, Moorish portion of the hotel is magical and lovely. The room I stayed in was a beach facing suite that was part of the recent nevovation the property has been going under. The interior was almost Victorian make believe with a great king sized bed... more

We experienced the royal treatment at the Royal Hawaiian. From the moment we exited our car and were greated with a beautiful, floral lei to the friendly staff that helped us check in and showed us to our room...our stay was outstanding. A beautiful location, with a great beach and wonderful rooms...it all seemed too good to be real. It... more

This is the way one dreams of being welcomed, anywhere! White flower leis for the girls, black Kukui nuts leis for the boys as soon as you arrive accompanied by cold white washcloths and a pink drink of hybiscus tea and fruit juice as you check in at a desk where you even get to sit. As you are brought... more

Kelly Hoen, general manager of the Princeville Resort on Kauai for approximately seven years – a long time in this business – moved last summer (2008) to the grand old dame of Waikiki Beach, the Royal Hawaiian, to oversee its extensive remodel and transition to the Luxury Collection brand of Starwood properties. The Royal’s first female general manager, Kelly has... more

This a well run and managed hotel. From the gentlemen at the valet, to the "Ambassadors" who check you in, to the bartenders at the Mai Tai bar. At every turn they were all professional, courteous, and personified dignified - competent Aloha. Four generations of our kamaaina family have been living, staying, or celebrating at the Royal. Would not think... more
