My wife and I just got back from a weekend at the Viking. We had a great time staying at the hotel. The staff was very helpful, attentive, and extremely nice. We made sure that we stayed in a room that was just renovated a couple years ago. I would defiantly make sure to do this as well. Everything was... more

We booked this room through orbitz for $109. That's a fair price for the winter, but would I pay $300+ to stay here peak season? No way. Why not? The room was well appointed but very small, as in 100 square feet at the most. The desk butted the bed on one side and an endtable on another. The bathroom... more

Just returned home after a 2-night stay at the Viking. It was our first time there and it was top of the line all the way. The service & staff are outstanding!! As soon as we pulled up, someone was there to open the door and help us with our bags. Check-in was very quick even though the hotel was... more

Upon walking in to the Viking we were impressed with the looks and style of this historic hotel. The first impression was good, but that's about it. We checked into the room. Wow, kind of chilly in here. Played with the thermostat, the heat vent, nothing, no heat in our room on a snowy January night. Okay, that's not good,... more

Stayed one night at the Viking and had a very good experience. The staff from the Bellhop to the Front desk to the wait staff were all very friendly. Room was a very clean and well decorated although the bathroom was bit small. Spa was a wonderful experience. They also have a good size (indoor) pool and a well stocked... more

We stayed for two nights to attend a family wedding and even though hotels.com had not confirmed our reservation the staff quickly contacted them and corrected the problem. The Viking Hotel is in a lovely old brick building, centrally located to downtown Newport, very easy to find and appears to have a wide choice of services such as a bar,... more

My girlfriend and I wanted to go away for the weekend. She found Hotel VIking online and they offered great rates this time of year. To make a long story short, we had a regular room booked Friday to Sunday and when we went to bed Friday night, we found a "suprise" left on a towel hidden in the closet... more

I opted contacting the Hotel Viking directly and am glad I did. I was looking for a very nice hotel in Newport, RI in which to go and celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary. The Viking was perfect. There are many places to stay in Newport, but the Viking kind of had it all. If you contact them directly, through their... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Viking this past weekend. His company's Christmas party was held there and everyone stayed overnight. We decided to go a day early so we could get out and see the sights in Newport. Before we even left home I checked out the comments here on Tripadvisor and I was worried because many... more

We are newcomers to Newport. our first stay in Sept. 2008 was on the "conceirge level" of the Marriott on the harbor -- VERY EXPENSIVE -- hated it -- our room was the size of a closet!!! Then we went again in Oct. 2008 & Nov. 2008, both times staying at the Hotel Viking. It was great -- wouldn't stay... more
