My wife and I spent one night here for our anniversary in July, which happened to coincide with tennis week in Newport. The Hotel Viking was definitely the place to be. It is a beautiful facility and we were right in the middle of all the action, hobnobbing with the tennis pros and some celebrities. The location is ideal; an... more

Stayed here for three nights in a Newport King Room For a 3.5 star hotel, the Viking met, but did not exceed expectations. We were fortunate to book the room at a substantially discounted rate, but I would not recommend this hotel at full rack rate. Positives: Location - Great area, away from the bustle of Thames St, but near... more

While the Hotel Viking is in a great locaiton and the service is excellent--not to mention that the hotel is beautiful, when it comes to the rooms, don't have too high expectations. The website makes everything look extremely elegant and regal, and while most of the public areas in the hotel fit this perception, the rooms are a different story.... more

They have a nice indoor pool, the gym has free weights, treadmills and other equipment (but is small), they have a lot of meeting rooms that look nice (in the style of the Viking hotel pictures on their web site). The valet, luggage, and front desk people were polite and helpful. The room was pretty basic for $359 per night.... more

As we paid $479 for a Spring Break ( 1 night, includes breakfast and valet parking), our expectations were pretty high. This was a treat to ourselves, as we spend over 200 nights a year in business hotels. So, what did we get for our money - a 200ft sq room, which was dark and depressing. A fancy silk bedspread... more

For our anniversary weekend getaway we booked a room through a bid on Priceline ($117 plus taxes and fees). The location of the hotel is very good. We walked everywhere we wanted to go including restaurants, movie theater, the Cliff Walk and some of the historic mansions. The room was very comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous.... more

I was looking for a romantic getaway to surprise my boyfriend with, and had saved up so price was no problem. I booked the last-minute special under the impression given me by the website: "marble baths," "complimentary internet," and a picture of a room with a fireplace. Oops! The concierge informed me that after the renovations, no rooms had bathTUBs... more

Thank you for your comments, especially those related to the superb cleanliness of the hotel and your grade of "A" for service. We take pride in both of those areas as well as the overall satisfaction of our guests. We do indeed have a fee of $6.95 for guest room high-speed internet access and we're happy to be able to...

excellent helpful staff. was able to get a deal on hotwire (3.5 star $140/nite) within walking distance to downtown attractions. also good if you can get a package deal with brunch included, otherwise try the newport creamery for breakfast/brunch 0.5 mile away. they charge for parking, boo. keep in mind the hotel is loud at nite, there is almost always... more

My Husband, the dog (Bruiser) and I decided to get away for a romantic 3 day weekend and found the Viking Hotel on line at a reasonable rate. The rooms for the "Pet People" are on the first floor which must have been the part that has not been renovated yet but it was nice anyway. Went you check in,... more

This stellar staff makes you feel very welcome and fully catered to. The restaurant is pricey but worth it for a treat. The Spa is great and so very clean. I highly recommend the Balinese Massage. It's like you're transported across the islands. more
