Located a block off Thames, the Durfee House is within easy walking distance to the waterfront, which is where we went after checking in. Innkeepers Heather and Mike make you feel like family, and know the area as only people who have history there can. We stayed in the second floor Perry room and loved the Victorian decor and the... Took my boyfriend for his 41st birthday. My first trip to Newport and his first in many many years. Staying at the Samuel Durfee House was a great choice. The hosts were warm and welcoming, the breakfast was AMAZING. Enough to hold us over until late afternoon. The room was cozy (we stayed in the Samuel Durfee room) and comfortable.... More

Recently spent 2 nights at this most welcoming B & B. Can't say enough good things about it they really thought of everything. House was so very comfortable and even though it is so old and of the period it is spotless and has every amenity needed. Great location Great breakfast!!!

We were happy with our stay at Samuel Durfee House. The rooms are very quiet and peaceful, and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts were gracious, without being overbearing. Also, the location can't be beat, with easy walking to all the Thames Street restaurants, bars, and shops. And the on site parking is a convenience not to be taken... More

We stay at the Durfee house every time we getaway to Newport. A short 60 min drive from Connecticut. We always book the Harrison Suite as its on the first floor with access to a private patio. Centrally located to the attractions of Newport you can park your car and walk. The inn keepers Heather and Michael are great hosts... More

We stayed in the here for 1 night in the Samuel Durfee room on our mini trip to Newport. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom (I am very particular). The bed was very comfortable and the hosts were so friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast was very yummy. The husband and wife owners of this bed and breakfast... More

We stayed at Samuel Durfee over the 4th of July holiday. We were very pleased. The room and bath were very clean, bed was comfortable, and the room had plenty of space. It was great to have off street parking right in the middle of Newport. Breakfasts were plentiful if not necessarily healthy - lots of baked goods, waffles, French... More

We loved our stay in the Harrison Suite at Samuel Durfee House during our recent trip to Newport. This was not only our first trip to Newport, but was also our first experience in a bed and breakfast. Heather and Michael were excellent hosts. Each day we learned a little more about Newport and about Heather and Michael personally. The... More

Our stay in the Doris Duke Suite was just perfect! It has a bedroom, a living room with a sofa bed, and two bathrooms - perfect for two single people traveling together. We enjoyed having a private deck where we could relax after a day of seeing the sights. The private small refrigerator was also an added bonus. Heather and... More
