The previous reviews are right on target: comfortable, quiet and very clean. Michael and Heather are friendly and helpful. Michael's breakfasts are wonderful and filling. No cold muffins or danish here! One morning was French Toast made with Portugese bread and the other was a crepe version of Eggs Benedict. Both excellent. Walking distance to downtown shopping and dining. The... more

We spent five nights at the Durfee House and loved it. We stayed in the Harrison suite, which gave us a little extra room. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck in the beautiful weather. Heather and Michael are wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the large breakfast every morning. They go out of their way to insure your every... more

This was an excellent place to stay in Newport. Great location, exceptional hospitality and divine breakfasts! Michael and Heather made sure we had everything we needed, including recommendations for things to do and restaurants. They were always available and made you feel right at home. We are considering a return trip just so we can stay there again! more

Heather and Michael made our first visit to Newport a delight. It's within walking distance to all the sights. We stayed in the Doris Duke room towards the back of the house and it was well appointed, comfortable, quiet and very clean. Holly in housekeeping was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed Michael's breakfasts each morning and Heather was always there to... more

We have never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast. Our first trip to Newport was our chance to try it at the Samuel Durfee house. I went by the reviews on Trip Advisor and I couldn't have made a better choice. The Federal Style house was beautifully decorated and comfortable. We stayed in the Jackie O room and it was... more

The Samuel Durfee house has always been my favorite place to stay for work and play. I stayed there once a year for the Newport Boat Show and was finally able to spend a romantic weekend there this fall which I will never forget. Whether its work or play, I would recommend everything about this wonderful house and the people... more

We traveled from Arkansas to Newport to meet friends for a four day get away. What a wonderful inn. Great location, very nice rooms, breakfast was great. We have stayed at other places in Newport, but we won't be staying anywhere else in the future. more
