We just returned from two nights at the Black Duck. We were very happy with our stay. We stated in the Chardonnay room, which is quite small and overlooks the parking lot. We didn't care, but it might be an issue for some people. We just used it as a base of operations to see Newport, not a place to... More

Overall the rating would be about a 3 out of 10 here. We were moved to this property from our original booking at their sister inn, Newport Blues. I did not book at the Black Duck for it was not our taste/style, sort of faux ultra modern (think martini bar). However we took their "upgrade" to the Pinot Noir suite... More

I just came back from staying the weekend with my boyfriend. The Black Duck Inn was a lovely place to stay. The room was perfect for us. Very clean and super comfy bed. We received a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine when we checked in. We stayed in the champagne suite and it was very romantic with... More

My boyfriend and I stayed July for 4 nights we were in town for a wedding. It was clean and located in the heart of town. The staff was nice and the fresh cookies everyday were so good! My one complaint was that there was no full length mirror in the room which made it hard to get ready especially... More

You sure can't beat the location of this bed and breakfast - you are less than a block from the harbor and the shops. The mansions at Bellevue Ave. and the Cliff Walk are just a nice walk or short drive away. There is an amazing breakfast waiting for you here, with friendly and informative staff like Karen, who had... More

I recently had the great pleasure of staying in two beautifully restored Newport Inns, the Blue Jewel and the Black Duck situated in the heart of Newport on Pelham Street. While right in the centre of Newport, Pelham Street is a very quiet and quaint area. Having made a very last minute booking , the innkeeper Jean facilitated me by... More

My husband and I stayed in the Reisling room at the Black Duck Inn in Newport. The inn is very modern in decor and quite lovely. The location is perfect as you can walk right into town. Parking is a hassle in town. Ok here are the issues.... The shower had no place to keep even a small shampoo bottle... More

What a nice little place, my husband and I came to Newport for the weekend and everything was great. The room was clean and updated, the location was in walking distance to everything so quickly, the staff was beyond helpful and kind, Sue was lovely. The breakfast cooked for each person in the morning!! Also, homemade cookies and teas and... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights...room was small, and randomly decorated ...the room felt like it was put together on a last minute shoestring budget....mattress did not sleep well...that's not accurate...the mattress slept poorly ...the poor little television did not have sound half the time (odd). No interaction with the innkeeper, only the breakfast hostess, who was... More

This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast. I bought a living social deal for two nights at either of the three Newport Bed and Breakfast Inns. I chose to book the Black Duck based on reviews as I was looking for something a little more modern and updated. We checked in Sunday at the Blue Jewel and... More
