Romana is the best proprietor you ever want to meet. from her world class "carrot" museum, to her breakfasts and wonderful stories and anecdotes, she makes everyone feel at home - as dysfunctional as home might be. close enough to get to all of the key Newport sites easily - however it is best to go by car.

We spent two nights at the Armistead Cottage and felt like we were at home the entire time. Our hosts, Romana and Charles were fantastic and made us feel like their home was our home. Every detail imaginable was taken care of. The location is very convenient, regardless of what you have planned. It is on a quiet residential street... More

We spent two nights at the Armistead Cottage and enjoyed every second of it. The inn keepers were more than welcoming and accommodating. They were very knowledgeable and helpful with the restaurants, attractions and places of interest in the surrounding area. The B and B is centrally located and just a short walking distance to town. Our room was delightful,... More

We spent perfect days in Romana's and Charles B&B. The house looks like a museum, absolutely gorgeous. It was very clean. Whitin walking distance you are at the beach or in town. Romana is a great host with a lot of humor and good recommendations. The breakfast is absolutely delicious! We would love to come back again. E&R from Switzerland

First of all thank you Romana and Charles for your charming and warm welcome in your beautiful house. Everything was just what we needed for this week (me and my husband were in Newport for leisure and work, without the kids!). Quiet, charming and comfortable room and bathroom, AC that works well, delicious and healthy breakfast, and, most important of... More

What a great find! First of all, the location is great for those who don't want to be right in the thick of things but close enough. House is in a lovely residential area within walking distance to a great walking path along the bay. Also walking distance to the harbor where everything is - roughly 20 minute walk. There... More

My wife and I returned to Armistead cottage recently for our anniversary, and it never fails to please. Armistead Cottage is a blend of everything you can want from a B&B. It has a great location, great amenities, satisfying breakfast, and all for a great price. Romana has expert knowledge of the area and can help tailor each trip to... More

Our two night stay at Armistead Cottage was memorable and delightful. We really enjoyed Romana's personality, art, and ample, delicious breakfasts. She gave us good advice on things to see, too. The location was quiet and great for biking or the Cliff Walk; we also found we weren't far from either the harbor or Middletown. We recommend Armistead highly.

The Armistead is a labor of love for the owners, Charles and Romana. We benefited at the end of June from all that they have done in making their property a premier B&B. Let me begin with the owners; they are so welcoming. They want you to enjoy their home and their city. Charles was leaving for New York so... More

There are many accommodations in Newport but when I spoke with Romana over the phone, I knew The Armistead would be the best decision. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and welcome. Their home is impeccable; filled with beautiful antiques and European touches. Our room (The Victorian) was cozy and romantic. Breakfast was three delicious courses! We stayed... More
