Am writing this 2 months late but only because each time I've thought about doing so haven't been at computer, and vice versa. My husband, adult son and I had 4 nights at Armistead Cottage and can endorse all the other positive comments in reviews: Newport is a lovely town and the house is well-appointed for the town centre, waterfront... The Armistead Cottage is a beautiful little B&B where my boyfriend and I stayed for a mini getaway. The breakfast was phenomenal (we were so excited for it every morning!) and the room was very clean and beautifully decorated! We are so incredibly lucky to have found this place! We will definitely be staying here again! We absolutely loved this... More

Ramona and Charles are friendly and informative hosts. Their restaurant suggestions were perfect for our tastes. Ramona gave easy instructions on visiting tourist locations. The B&B is filled with beautiful artwork, it's meticulously clean and located close to lovely downtown Newport and the manions. We have already recommended this B&B to friends and would visit for our next stay in... More

This B & B was fabulous. Ramona is a super host and makes a wonderful breakfast. Her recommendations on restaurants and things to do were spot on. Convenient location--walking distance to loads of places. Very affordable--best deal in town.

This B&B is fabulous. From the moment we walked in the door I knew we had made an excellent choice. Charles was very welcoming and showed us around the charming downstairs. They have quite the collection of arts and carrots!! You have to see these carrots. The home is tastefully decorated as was our queen size bedroom. The BR was... More

My husband and I just returned from a two-night weekend in Newport at Armistead Cottage. It's located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood that is close to everything, but not in the middle of the tourist area, which was nice for us! As other reviewers have frequently noted, the inn has a unique and creative decor and there is always something... More

Spotless from top to bottom! The Armistead Cottage has the prettiest covered porch on the block, with a porch swing, flowers, artwork and comfy furnishings! The house is filled with vintage finds and artful displays that make it both homey and fascinating. The proprietors, Romana and Charles gave us helpful tips on where to eat and what to see. They... We spent three nights at the Armistead Cottage in early September. Romana and Charles were fantastic hosts. Romana made a great breakfast each morning. Their house is full of wonderful treasures. Our room was very nice, comfortable bed, private bath...and quiet! Romana and Charles gave us great suggestions for sights to see and restaurants. We were in walking distance to... More

My husband and I were lucky to have booked a 3 night stay at the Armistead Cottage! We loved the innkeepers Romana and Charles for their great hospitality and insight to Newport. They recommended get restaurants and other attractions in addition to the Mansion tours. The location was great: near everything but on a quiet street. The room was spacious... More

Romana is the best proprietor you ever want to meet. from her world class "carrot" museum, to her breakfasts and wonderful stories and anecdotes, she makes everyone feel at home - as dysfunctional as home might be. close enough to get to all of the key Newport sites easily - however it is best to go by car.
