The Marshall Slocum guest house feels like a home away from home thanks to the lovely staff and traditional rooms. The breakfast was outstanding and my only regret was that we only got to stay for one night. The surround area is stunning and with the sights of Newport I could've happily stayed here for a fortnight!

My family and I stayed at the Marshall Slocum Guest House for 2 nights in August and it was absolute perfection. From the moment we arrived, the staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was delightful and sitting out on the terrace with a tea/coffee and homemade cake in the afternoons was heaven after a long day... More

We stayed at this fine B&B Dec.5-6 in order to attend the Governor's Ball at Salve Regina University in Newport. We have attended the Ball for several years now and visited Newport many times for other reasons. One of our group of 7 had stayed at the Marshall Slocum the past summer and asked everyone if we'd like to take her recommendation.Well,we... Never before have we needed STEPS to get into the bed, but what a bed! This is a gem of a place. I can only endorse previous comments re: the excellent breakfast spread and chatty and knowledgeable host/chef who serves. We were only there a night and had wondered if it was worth breaking our trip between NYC and Boston... More

Had a really enjoyable couple of nights here. The house is full of charm and the owner/chef is really accommodating and friendly. No sooner had we explained that us Brits like HP sauce with our breakfasts he'd got on to Amazon and ordered some! Coffee and tea was available most of the time in the dining room along with very... Newport is busy even in late-October so we had to ring a couple of places before getting set at the Marshall Slocum. Even then we had to change rooms for the second night, but this was no problem for our friendly host who organised everything. The first night we stayed in the cottage alongside the parking area and it was... More

Comfortable small guest house with good sized rooms. It is handily placed for walking to the town. Friendly and welcoming staff. Really lovely breakfast, best we had during our trip and we stayed at a number of hotels. I have no hesitation in recommending this guest house, I cannot fault it. Also, an i pad is provided for your free... More

We spent two days in this lovely old inn at the top of the town and in a room at the very top of the building. A short walk from the town but far enough out to be quiet and restful, this is a lovely guest house. A wonderful friendly young lady checked us in after a long drive from... More

My group of 5 (3 rooms) enjoyed our stay here immensely. We took up the apartment, the snuggery and the library rooms and all were very warm, comfortable, clean, and well-stocked. Netflix on the iPad was a really nice touch, as was the home-baked afternoon tea delights. Breakfast was a total highlight - thanks, Mark! Lauren was very helpful (maps,... More

I stayed here with my niece as part of our recent road trip in Connecticut and Rhode Island and it was lovely. Lauren was super helpful at check in, discussing our plans and providing a map with some restaurant and attraction suggestions marked out. We tried two of Lauren's recommendations for dinner both nights and they were great, spot on.... More
