Our host called us the day before our arrival to say that the Inn was booked for a group and we would have to stay in an apartment next door! Our initial apprehensions were soon dissipated when we were led to this precious little apartment with king-size bed, large living/kitchen area and lovely bathroom with a fine selection of bath... more

My husband and I stayed at this B&B and were very satisfied with the quiet and the cleanliness of the room. However, there was no television, no phone and apparently no dvd player(s) either. The phone and the tv we could deal with, but the "phantom dvd" player(s) never seemed to materialize during our visit. The owner/innkeeper, Mark, told us... more

My wife and I just got back from a pleasure trip to Newport Rhode Island where we stayed at the Marshall Slocum Guest House. We had a wonderful time. The Inn was well appointed, and very comfortable. It was also close to all the attractions and things we wanted to do and see in the area. In addition, the Innkeepers... more

Marshall Slocum was the perfect choice for us while we visited Newport for a wedding. Most guests attending this wedding stayed at the Hyatt and had unremarkable service and accommodations. We enjoyed quaint surroundings not too far from the town center and reliably good breakfasts each morning. The hosts were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. We heartily recommend this... more

We recently stayed at the Marshall Slocum Inn in Newport, RI. The Inn is located on Kay Street in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood just outside of the downtown area, in easy walking distance to all of Newport's attractions. We stayed in the Captains Quarters', which was beautiful and comfortable, with a nice Jacuzzi whirlpool tub in the bathroom, which sure... more

We stayed at Marshall Slocum for two nights (Friday and Saturday), for a very reasonable price of $ 125 a night. First, the location. The inn is about ten minutes walk to the Thames street where most of the restaurants and shops are located. However, this little walk is worthwhile. Unlike the B&B's in the very heart of Newport which... more

I was in Newport for the Newport Air Show with a friend. I've stayed at Marshall Slocum several times over the last 3 years, just haven't been organized enough to write a review. I LOVE this place. It is walking distance to town, Mark and Dana are fantastic...the perfect combination of helpful, charming, funny, without somehow playing too big a... more

My wife and I stayed here during a weekend getaway and had an absolutely delightful stay. Whether it was Mark's attention to detail, the immaculate room, or the incredible breakfasts -- I would return for their French Toast alone ;o)...the Marshall Slocum Inn exceeded our expectations on every level. Plus... the inn is within walking distance to EVERYTHING in Newport!!!... more

That's really the only adjective I have to use about this place, it was just fine. My husband and I are in the process of taking a road trip around New England stopping at bed and breakfasts along the way, this place was very average. Our room was nice and clean, the inn itself charming, the breakfast good, but we... more

Yes, I can see what all of the other reviews mean... but there was a certain something missing from our stay. That was the Innkeepers themselves were noticeable by their abscence. The only time we saw Mark was at breakfast time when he served up what was an excellent breakfast. He was helpful and knowledgeable too. But come the evening... more
