We stayed at the Marshall Slocum Guest House for a concert we were attending in Newport. The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown (restaurants, waterfront, clubs, venues) and the famous Cliff Walk. With a bike or good walking shoes you can easily make it to a lot of the mansion area. The B&B is very well restored,... More

We wanted to stay in a historic place, since Newport is so historic. My husband is quite tall so I asked for a king size bed. We were in the Cottage, which is a converted garage in the garden. It was perfect! Spotless, antiques, great bed, TV, nice shower, quiet AC; and very private. We just walked up the lawn... More

This is a well run B&B with a good afternoon tea and break breakfast. Everything was clean and top notch. Mark runs things very professionally and everything was perfect. The inn is in a quiet neighborhood and it's a short walk to the harbor. We got the last room, the Bostonian whose bathroom is very small but otherwise it was... More

I've known the family of this house for forty years and came back to see what it looked like as a B and B..WOW, what an amazing reincarnation of an early Victorian house supposedly designed by Dudley Newton. It was once a Methodist parsonage.

My husband & I stayed here for our anniversary- it was wonderful! We stayed in the Postcard room, which was smaller than the others but it was still a very good size. Breakfast was lovely out on the back patio. The chef was super friendly and cooked delicious food. I would definitely stay here again during a future visit to... More

Very cosy and relaxing place with a lot of charm. It is just 10 minutes walk from the main shopping and dining area on Thames st and America's Cup ave., but is located on a very quiet street with other beautiful mansions. I have stayed in "proper" hotels in Newport before, but Marshall Slocum is much more comfotable, has more... More

When we first arrived, we had a great welcome from the host Mark. He showed us places to go and have us a map to help with our planning. The inn was beautiful! Outside there was a nice deck and great parking lot. We stayed in the small apt room. It was really beautiful. The room was set off the... More

The porch and deck were great to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine. The area is very quiet and surrounded by lovely trees. It is close to Bellevue Ave and great restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised at the full breakfast served from a menu offering several choices. I would stay there again if in Newport.

we had an amazing stay at the Inn. Everything was just perfect, the rooms was incredibly clean - simple but elegant. Breakfast was wonderful, made to order. We can not wait to go back. We loved the grounds as well!

The Marshall Slocum guest house is an excellent option considering the wide array oc choices in Newport. It is just a few minutes walk from town and the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast would rival (and surpass) those of any gourmet restaurant. Mark Spring, our host, was cordial and welcoming - and understated. Some small touches such... More
