Owner Mark was very rude and did not make us feel welcomed. Inn itself was great. Very clean. Some rooms seem much better than others. If inn keepers were kinder and more social, would have made for a great trip! More

On our previous trips to Newport, Rhode Island we stayed at a chain hotel to accumulate points, which was located in Middletown and not close to any favorite attractions. This time a search on Trip Advisor for a nice bed and breakfast resulted in the Marshall Slocum Guest House. And it truly is a guest house: you are made to... More

Cute B&B conveniently located 10min from the mansions and 10 min from town. Mark was very friendly and cooked an excellent and varied breakfast. We had the "Snuggery" which was good value for the price. It's very small but quite cute and romantic. Keep in mind that if you have a lot of luggage you won't have a place to... More

We loved our visit to Newport RI. Mark was very helpful on local advice and cooked a great breakfast, simple but delicious. Our room was very comfortable. Good location for walking in to the centre of town. More

We really liked Newport and was one of the highilghts of our trip. It is a place that gives the impression of teeming with wealth. As a consequence staying at the Marshall was very good pricewise compared to a lot of Newport. We were in the Snuggery and it was certainly that. But there was a lot of charm about... More

The Marshall Slocum is a small quaint B&B run by a young husband and wife team. They are charming, accommodating to all requests and the inn is clean and historic. If you are looking for a small charming inn, this one is for you. Down to the hanging swing on the front porch to the back deck where you can... More

We had the dreaded room 6. It was far too small hardly room for our two bags. We also found the floor rugs and some of the decor a little 'weary' Toilet/shower ok. Breakfast was very good with other options provided if asked for. Host was able to provide great information about the area and things to do. Beer and... More

This was the first time that we had stayed in an American "Inn" - we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and standard of the accomodation. It is a family-run business and their attention to detail is obvious. From the personal and informative welcome to the quality of the furnishings to the freshly cooked breakfasts, they make... More

My husband and I came here for a long weekend for our 1st wedding anniversary. As a young couple my husband was a little sceptical about coming to a place that does not have a TV in everyroom. However we truly did not miss it, Marc and his wife gave us so many great suggestions on fun activities to do... More

Innkeeper is a nice guy and tries hard to make your stay a good one. House is not the grandest on the block, but the value is definitely there. It's one of those places that you sleep better in because it feels like home. The rooms are basic, the soaps are top notch. Breakfast is very pelasant and the public... More
