Had to stay here w/ the boss for work. This is a discount hotel so amenities are NOT to be expected. But it was dirty, old, smelly, run-down, not easily accessible and the rooms were utilitarian. The bathroom was ghetto, period. The bed was OK, but the comforter, blankets, pillows were low-rent as well. It has to be re-stated that... more

I stayed at this motel in July of 2007 and July of 2008. On our second trip to Newport there was no question whether or not we were going to stay at this motel. We requested the same room that we had stayed in the previous year and the staff made sure that we got it. The room was very... more

When we arrived they did not have a room for us, even though we booked it through hotels.com, they did us right by upgrading our room to a suite.. it was clean - and just wonderful... Resturant was a bit pricey but hey so is Newport - The only down side is they have an outside pool - they should... more

Stayed on a Saturday night to enjoy the newport nightlife. In between going out for the day and recharging for the night my friends and I went to the hotels restaurant and waited OVER AN HOUR to be served. It wasn't busy nor did we order anything that should have taken over 15 mins. The said to be manager then... more

This hotel offered a large, clean room at a decent rate. While distant enough from downtown Newport to require a car, it's an easy 5 minute drive to most attractions. Across from a casino the hotel also has its own moderately priced restaurant. more

This hotel is affordable for Newport, but you will need a car to get around. There is very little to walk to from this location. When we stayed, there were a lot of problems with noise (mostly how loud doors are when they close, but also some very loud guests across the hall). The hotel rooms are mediocre, as is... more

We were on our honeymoon, and were intending to spend two nights at the hotel on our way from New York to Boston. I was so underwhlemed that we canned the second night-which we had already paid for and headed straight up to Boston instead. The Good: -The Staff were pleasent, -We ate in the bar, which was ok, -The... more

Best Western The Mainstay Inn is in a very good location, across the street from Casino and 10 minutes to the downtown area of Newport. Room rates for a reunion were excellent- staff very friendly- rooms clean- restaurant/bar on-site were adequate. more

If you have a car is fine, if not, it is not in the center of town. The rooms are large and clean. There was a refrigerator and a microwave. We didn't eat at the restaurant. There is a casino if front of the hotel. more
