My husband and I went to Newport for Labor Day weekend in 2011. The trip was just beyond amazing and we loved staying at Wayside Guest House. I read some comments that the house is 'old' but you would only expect that from a place that was built in 1800's! The innkeeper is a great guy, very helpful, knowledgeable about... More

Although staying in a mansion has a unique appeal, this property needs a lot of work. The website photos are very deceiving. We noticed that sad fact as soon as we pulled into the driveway - peeling paint, shabby front lawn, and a dark entrance - which killed our enthusiasm. When we entered the lobby area, the house was dark... More

Every time when we come to Newport we stay at this Inn. It has everything one would dream about:: convenient location, large air conditioned comfortable rooms with really good bed and a delicious breakfast. We like that we can walk to the downtown harbor area , beaches , restaurants and mansions or we can just hang out at the pool... More

We picked this bed and breakfast because it was a converted mansion on "Mansion Avenue". Built in the late 1800's, it had a lot of the details of the time -- you could see what it might have been like to live in that time. There were high ceilings, huge rooms, beautiful moldings. It wasn't a fancy place, and it... More

I stayed at the Wayside Guest House for four nights. The building was built in 1896, and is attractive, both indoors and out. It is almost directly across from "The Elms", and how more attractive can you get than that? Don, the host, was very accomodating, and helpful, especially in guiding me to restaurants frequented by locals. My room, which... More

We stayed in the cottage and loved the cleanliness of it and the beachy-themed decor. Plenty of room for 4 people and loved the privacy of it. The innkeeper was so friendly and welcoming and full of great tips and information about the area. We truly enjoyed our chats with him at breakfast each morning. If we come back to... More

Once again, we had a fantastic experience staying at the Wayside Inn in Newport RI. This was our 10th visit to this property -- our annual one week retreat for our extended family of 16 (which sometimes grows to 20+ depending on cousins, etc). The Wayside Inn is located close to the ELMS Mansion on Bellevue, which is a terrific... More

Perfect staying!!! Friendly atmosphere. Great breakfast with freshly baked muffins and very goo d coffee. Spacious rooms with high ceilings, huge windows, good beds with comfy mattresses.. Location is the best!!! We walked to everywhere. The museums are next door. Cliff Walk and restaurants are in 5 minutes walk. We loved it there and we are coming back in summer... More

Our family stayed in the cottage last summer for a long weekend. It's nothing fancy, but it was great to have a spacious apartment, away from the noisy streets. The pool is just steps away from the cottage and our kids had it all to themselves most of the time. If you are accustomed to traditional hotels with a concierge... More

I wrote a day or so ago, but was not sure that it went through. I'm trying again because this is such a lovely and unique place to stay when in Newport. I believe I said that it was like visiting old friends or dear cousins and the Posts do everything to make your stay pleasurable. Each room has a... More
