So this is not the typical B&B experience. You either love it or hate it. We loved it. To check in, it's a rather laid back "I'll be there or the chef will let you in". In our case, it was the chef. Maggie, the owner, takes her job very seriously. A 7th generation Newport native with this business passed... More

Our room itself was quite nice: clean and nicely decorated and we could even live with the fact that there was no door to the bathroom, but couple of things where not so nice as we expected for the price that we booked the room: breakfast was funny - compared to even low price motel chains, this was really scarce;... I read a bunch of reviews on moderately priced Newport Inns before choosing one to stay in, and for the most part the reviews for The Canfield House were positive so I chose it for a one night stay. Once we figured out the parking situation, since there was a rope across the entrance you had to go down a... More

We spend one night in this lovely B&B. We booked in the morning because we are traveling throw the coast and we decide in the last minute to stop in Newport. It was the perfect place for us! The room style match with the Newport style and the Mensions! Service and location perfect, dinner in the restorant below very fine.... More

This review is for a one-night stay at Canfield House. The room was small but clean and pleasant enough. Aside from that, my boyfriend and I felt everything else about this place was a miss. One big problem was that the bathroom was a strange construction in the middle of the room with walls that didn't reach the ceiling. For... More

This was our first stay at The Canfield House after many trips to Newport. My only regret is that we hadn't discovered it sooner. Maggie personifies what it is to be a New England Innkeeper. Warm, inviting, funny, accommodating and incredible personal service. The whole reservation and check in process was a breeze. Large parking lot, which if you've never... More

Canfield House offers a high-end dining experience in the heart of Newport at a budget-friendly price, when you take advantage of the "Dinner for Two" mid-week special that includes a bottle of wine, choice of entree off of a fixed menu, and add a salad at a minimal cost. The food is OUTSTANDING in presentation and in flavor! Not only... More

We highly recommend The Canfield House. We have been going there for several years and loved it so much that in 2006 we had our wedding ceremony and reception there. The atmosphere is elegant, warm and inviting with beautiful woodwork and a great outside deck. The food is ALWAYS outstanding, great wine list, full bar options with knowledgeable bartenders and... Wow another year has gone. Got to party it up this year at the Canfield house. Live band, party favors, balloons and such. Beautiful place, great food and drinks. If you are in Newport for New Years its a most.

We have visited the Canfield House numerous times and let me say, it has been a wonderful experience each time. The staff is warm and friendly and really treat you like they've known you for years. The food is AMAZING!!!! My personal favorite is the Seafood Alfredo, but anything off of their menu is delicious. The atmoshere is happy and... More
