Staying at the Rose Island Lighthouse as the "keepers" one night in November was a terrific experience - the sights, sounds, furnishings and ambiance were straight out of a dream. This is one unbelievably romantic place. Here are a couple of what I hope are helpful tips and tidbits. tidbit 1: If you rent the apartment and wonder if any... More

Once we got to Rose Island we were impressed and loved every second of it. We stayed in the Fog Horn building which, after seeing the rest of the rooms, was definitely the best option. All the rooms are nice, but the Fog Horn building was secluded, quiet (aside from peaceful ocean sounds), and so so cool. However, it took... More

My sister booked this hotel for one night (to skip out on doing chores!) and said she had the best time. She was a little nervous before going because you're kind of cut off, but they lit a fire at night and had a quaint little room. The sunset was beautiful and she said they would definitely do it again.... More

This was our second trip to the Rose Island Lighthouse--a very unique getaway. Lots of history. Rooms availble in the lighthouse and other areas of the property. Bring out what you bring in. It is alot like fancy camping - you do have a full bed. Fog Horn building is directly on the rocks outside the lighthouse surrounded by the... More

I cannot think of enough positive adjectives to describe Rose Island Lighthouse and crew. My husband and I stayed for a week as keepers. When we booked the trip we were a bit worried there wouldn't be enough to do. We shouldn't have worried. The whole experience was magical, restful and rejuvenating. We were sorry to leave. We definitely plan... More

My family and I recently spent one night at the lighthouse. I didn't want to leave! It was wonderful. I would totally recommend it. Chris who picked us up at the dock and took us to the island was great, every informative and we enjoyed the boat ride over and everything he told us about the island and lighthouse. Sunset... More

After an amazing tour of American Civil War battle sites in Virginia and nearby states, I promised my family a relaxing surprise on our way to Massachusetts. They were not disappointed! A gloriously sunny day in April saw us waiting at the dock for our boat. Chris took us out round the island to see the seals: knowing it was... More

I had reservations about this trip with friends. It was very different from anything I had ever done so I gave it a try. I ended up having a fun time and a unique experience. Chris, our boat captain was great! He knew we were interested in seeing seals and gave us a boat ride to see them. He answered... More

The Rose Island Lighthouse may be the best value getaway in New England in November. Rates drop by as much as 50% and you lose none of the ambience. It's easy to book - just call the number on the website. There are several rooms to choose from - we stayed on the ground floor in the lighthouse itself -... More
