We stayed at one of the Inns of Newport on Clarke Street, in a very nice room, #104. This was our first visit from Ohio, and Rick Farrick was the most accommodating and gracious host I think we've ever had! The wonderful Michelle made the very best full breakfasts in the building next to ours, which kept us going long... more

Stay at this quaint hotel in a quiet back street of Newport converted from a lovely weather-boarded house. We were over from the UK in Newport to attend a wedding. Many of our friends were staying at the Viking and were very envious of our choice to stay at The Clarkeston. We had the opportunity to upgrade our room for a... more

I can only explain what I saw at our stay of three nights by assuming that the proprietors of this establishment feel no need to improve the value of their services because they have a steady influx of clueless tourists like myself. They have grown complacent, and it shows. Housekeeping barged into our room without knocking, on two consecutive days.... more

My husband and I are not B&B people - we prefer the anonymity of hotels. However, we received a gift certificate to the Inns of Newport (there are five properties) and chose the Clarkston. We were the only people at the inn for the three days/two nights (mid-week) we stayed. The room (Room number three on the website) is located... more

As our second B&B stay ever...we had an excellent time. The room was extremely clean, promptly cleaned in the am, and very private. This was the first "cool weather" weekend of the year, so we welcomed the cozy, private feel of hte place. We were sold on the extra cost for the "Fireplace", which we were so glad that we... more

Mixed feelings about this stay, we had originally asked for the Admiral Farragut having read the excellent reviews but on arrival it was presumed we were staying at the hotel that the reception is located at, we were told that we would be upgraded at no extra cost to the Clarkeston, across the road, and thus thought that we would... more

This B and B was a true disappointment. The cost for an off season "suite" was hardly a bargain and we would have gladly payed a little more for cleanliness and good service. We stayed in the one room of the house with a small sitting area and "full" kitchen..the kitchen area has a pitiful array of filthy utensils and... more

I'm a little surprised at the positive reviews. While the Clarkeston Inn is situated in a good location w/ private parking, it's not one that will impress the seasoned B&B visitor in any way. Our room, while reasonably priced, was nothing special. The bed was comfortable and the double shower was a nice touch but other than that, there were... more

The rooms were superb, the bed was heavenly and the staff was extremely helpful and accomodating! The breakfast is fantastic and very homey, the pancakes and ecspecially the french toast are delicious!! The fresh squeezed orange juice was a welcome surprise! We highly recommend this place and will stay here every time!! Thanks Rick!!! more

With all due respect to the other reviewers who loved this inn, we found it to be very disappointing and certainly not worthy of its pricing. Yes, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was no street noise, but we could have had all that at the Marriott as well. The rooms were just OK (lots of... more
