Rather than the usual gift giving in our living room, this year we opted for a different kind of Christmas celebration. We decided on Newport and thought we'd try a B&B. I googled innsofnewport, sent out an email, and received a call from Rick the very next morning inquiring as to what we had in mind. Apparently he runs several... More

The Clarkeston is within walking distance of all shops and the Barrister Wharf which is a plus! For breakfast you can choose what you want to eat. Rick was very accommodating and all-around a nice guy. Note staying in Newport isn't cheap so be prepared for sticker shock.

Very nice people and attentive staff. Small, hot room fir breakfast with only one staff person doing everything. Worst bed and mattress I have ever slept on. Room dirty and nit cleaned well.during our stay. Not worth $280 night...

I just literally made a reservation at this historical inn and I have to say Rick was awesome. He was so accomodating and a pleasure to speak to. We cannot wait to go to Newport and am so glad we changed our minds and booked here instead of the Newport Hotel and Marina. We are confident we made the change.... More

I enjoyed my stay at Clarkeston Inn. The house is a charming late 19th century (I think!) building and retains all of its original features. My room was lovely and clean and actually quite pretty. The owner, Rick, is a terrific guy who ensures that your stay is comfortable. The breakfast was filling and had all the things one would... More

This is a lovely place to stay. The room was comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was more than adequate, the staff efficient and friendly. The Inn is very well situated, both near the main shops and the quayside. Well worth staying at.

Although we were here during the shoulder season (first week of April), we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit to Newport. The Clarkeston is a brillaint location just shy of being waterfront. Bearing in mind that the building isn't anything close to new, I felt like genuine effort has been put into the upkeep and we were well satisfied with... More

I've stayed at many B&B's over the years in Newport. This was my first visit back to Newport in 10+ years. The owners we very friendly and helpful and the location excellent. Our room had a very tired look to it. The ceiling was chipped, no hairdryer, ripped pillows on sofa and the sofa was all frayed and torn too.... More

Recently spent the weekend with the hubby and it was awesome!! The room was cozy and romantic. Fireplace really added a nice touch. Perfect location for walking all around Newport downtown. Rooms are quiet - never heard anyone else in the house. MJW
