Upon arriving to Clarke Street, I found the street to be full of the most quintessential charm you would find in Old New England. There are four b & b buildings on Clarke Street that are run by The Inns of Newport which are very, very old. For the age of these buildings, they are very well kept. The street... More

We discovered the Clarkeson--otherwise known as one of three "Inns at Newport"--via Groupon. The inns are located on a picturesque Newport street blocks from the bay. During our stay, we were the only guests in the entire house! Here's what we know: Excellent location, affordable price, parking available (at least during off season! Small lot behind building), comfortable bed, Colonial... More

Breakfast is basic but good, made fresh to order in a cozy dining room. Rooms were basic but pretty. No iron or hair dryer etc. Heating was very hot on the first night (controlled from another room) but we mentioned it and it was adjusted for the second day. Including breakfast this seemed reasonably good value and I would recommend... More

CLARKESTON, B&B Newport The CLARKESTON B&B is 1 of 4 Guesthouses, that belong together and stand next to each other on Clarke Street. The buildings are very old (1700) and it shows; you step into a different century. On the other hand, everything works fine with a large bathroom, but a rather small bedroom with limited storage for luggage (... More

We initially chose this place because of it's convenience and price, but now know that we won't stay anywhere else! Our room was beautiful and held all the same charm and character as Newport itself. Not to mention, the owner made us feel at home and welcome right away. We were also pleasantly surprised to get a hot, made to... More

I had planned a weekend with a friend visiting from Abroad. Having stayed at many amazing B&B's in the Northeast I thought a B&B experience would be something special. Unfortunately The Clarkston was anything but the charming B&B I had visualized. It was run-down, not clean and the photos posted on their site are misleading. In addition to that they... More

The Clarkeston Inn was very nice with a lot of charm. Upon arriving we could not enter the street due to major pavement and road repairs. It was, at times, a nuisance but bearable. Our room had a king size bed and it was VERY clean. The toilet began to leak at the floor with every flush. We showed it... More

We appreciate your patience during the repaving of Clarke Street; now that the work has moved into week 3, we are in need of a dose of your great advice to "go with the flow"-ha! Thanks for your review and we hope to see your group again, Rick More

My husband, son and I drove to RI from NJ not even having reservations to stay anywhere. At the last minute we came across this place. We had options of which room to stay in & we stayed in the suite. It was clean and spacious for our 5 yr old to play in. It was very a convenient location.

Keep looking!!! The Clarkeston is one of the four homes you can stay in, but the only one advertised. Upon arrival we began questioning our decision from the outside and we were right. We were placed in a room in the Newport Inn (directly across the street) from the Clarkeston. They provided us with two options, the first one we... More

There were some nice things about this property - the location is excellent. It is on a side street so the noise isn't as heavy as say the Marriott or some of the other B&Bs in town. I also thought the rooms themselves were charming. You have to be into old rustic New England style, but I like that compared... More
