Old fashioned inn In a great location in the heart of Newport. This is an old building and so can be creaky and odd in places. Well appointed rooms and good facilities, except for breakfast which was a bit disappointing and on our second morning they had run out of most things and could only offer supermarket bread (I saw... A very quaint, well-maintained inn. The rooms are small but very clean, with personal touches, like folding the towels in the shape of swans. The receptionist is friendly and helpful, with many tips on Newport restaurants and sights. The inn is located just off Main street, and is walking distance from many attractions. The highlight (if you are there during... More

Dear NS -- Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to share your experience with others. We are so glad you enjoyed our walkable location, rooftop deck, continental breakfast, casually classic New England atmosphere and personal touches. As for room size, yes, some of our rooms are smallish (we prefer to say cozy), but others are quite... More

We stayed at the Yankee Peddler for 2 nights. The prices were in line with other inns and it was within walking distance of the wharf. Our room was clean and the bathroom appeared to be newly renovated. They offered a cold breakfast that had much to choose from. Being an old building you heard many sounds going on in... More

Dear Shopper114 -- I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in Newport and the Yankee Peddler Inn. We like to think "charm" is just the right word to use when describing the Peddler ... so thank you for using it! We do our best to provide a warm, authentic, casual, comfortable (but not fancy) experience. Many guests return again and... More

I have no big complaints or issues. It is a typical, mid-range, inn; not a deluxe, cater-to-your-every-need B&B, but they don't claim to be. I feel I got exactly what was advertised and what I was looking for. The guy who checked me in was very nice and helpful with recommendations on where to eat. The continental breakfast was good,... Stayed in Newport for an overnight stop off, wish we could have spent longer. Our room was in the Carriage House and very nice and clean. The main house had a lovely outdoor deck on the third floor. Convenient parking to the rear and easily within walking distance to the town centre. Staff were very obliging.

Fantaistc traditional hotel in the centre of newport town. It's a really old building but looks good. Each room is prepared well but very small (just about good enough if you are 2 people). The main attractions on the island are walking distance including the port and mansions. Breakfast is contental with normal bread, jams, bagel and cereal. They have... More

We stayed in a carriage house room at the Yankee Peddler Inn. The room was small but met our needs. The staff members were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and I appreciated the gluten free bagels! The Inn is strategically positioned to allow you access to the harbor or the mansions on foot. It is also easy... More

The staff was incredible. The carried my luggage to the 3rd floor as well as an ironing board & iron. The rooms were clean & well cared for. Outside roof deck. Excellent choices for breakfast. Just up the street from Touro Synagogue and a block from the top of Bellevue Ave. I walked everywhere from here, but it is also... More

A comfortable Inn just a few blocks away from the harbor. We came for our daughter's graduation weekend -close enough to URI. The rooms were clean and well stocked with all we needed. We love the old inn style. Enjoyed the staff. The front desk staff was knowledgeable, and directed us to wonderful area restaurants. We will be back.

This hotel is in what seems to be an old converted house, it has a good amount of character and big spacious rooms. It's situated quite close to everything that is going on down on the water front and the staff were very informative about the area on our arrival. We felt welcome and well looked after

Dear Theo L: Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your positive impressions! Yes, the Yankee Peddler is an historic home. It was built in the 1830s for a Boston mariner and naval officer named Nathaniel Amory. One of its later owners was George Douglas Brewerton, a Newport native who became a noted painter in the Hudson River... More
