My husband and I have stayed at American Cup a few times. We have also stayed at a local "considered" upscale hotel in the area. American World Cup Inn transforms you back to an era of the past. It's clean, quaint, and charming. It reminds me of staying at Grandmas when I was a child. If you are looking for... More

Stayed here in October 2014 after reading Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Great location, lovely rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast, which is included, is a feast. The only thing to be aware of us that there is no elevator so all luggage needs to he hauled upstairs. We were in room 301 and the bathroom was minute, but... More

We found a deal for this inn online and lucked out! The inn is right in the center of town and within walking distance to the more commercial wharf area. The inn was quiet and quaint and provided a great breakfast spread! The employees of the inn suggested places to go and what to see.

Boy, maybe we just got lucky, but I'm really surprised at the nagative reviews. I can only conclude that some people didn't understand that this is not a flashy Hyatt mega-business-hotel, it's far more personal than that. Like almost everybody says (even some of the negative reviews), the location could not be better -- we could literally throw a baseball... More

Yes, it is an older, classic urban hotel; each room is different, so if you are fussy, ask to see room first. No elevator if that matters to you. Parking is convenient across the street (discounted by hotel with in/out so now you can walk to everything). Afternoon tea/goodies and breakfast are surely sufficient, but not home made. Wifi in... If you are an Americas Cup fan, as I am, and expect an AC-themed inn, you will be sadly disappointed. I have no idea how they managed to get permission to use the Americas Cup in their name and logo, but this is a dark, cramped and ancient hotel. The room we stayed in was number 203. It was barely... The trouble with leaving reviews sometimes is that you get to see those already written, and this can have an influence on your own if you're not careful. There are many slightly negative reviews that I've seen here and elsewhere for this Inn - but I'm going to try and remain unbiased. If you're the kind of person that likes... More

I took my daughter on a girl weekend trip on Aug 09 & 10, 2014. The America's Cup Inn was an awesome place for us to stay. It is in a GREAT location, we never had to move our car! The room was spacious and the breakfast was outstanding! The staff was friendly and informative about the area. I'll stay... More

We have been going to Newport for over 20 years. The hotels have become very pricey, but we always like to stay downtown. America's Cup Inn was perfect. Centrally located and you could walk to everything. The atmosphere was historic and homey. The rooms had character and were very clean. Free breakfast was delicious, with pancakes, prosciutto, fresh fruit, and... More

Stayed in 2 room (with kitchen) pet-friendly apartment. Positives: really friendly, helpful staff; Overall very clean, spacious and cool, with room A/C. Great towels. Excellent location, near park and walking distance to bars and restaurants. Minuses: bed/pillows could do with an update; tub drain gets blocked. Guarunteed parking isn't a given if you arrive at a busy time; it's a... More
