This was a great camping experience with some of the friendliest staff/owners possible. The ambience is true rv camping while providing great proximity to Roosevelt National Park. We loved this campground, even with the bad weather we were experiencing. It's a great place to stay and doesn't appear to be the kind of place "bad" travelers would frequent.

We're not equipped for extended boondocking so our planned 3 day visit to Theodore Roosevelt NP required a camping location with at least some hookups. Red Trail Campground is all there is. The access road is paved but the roads leading to individual sites are dirt and the sites are gravel and grass. The area is normally very windy and... More

The hosts were not pleasant, but they did provide basic information in the form of a handout. Even though we were the only tenters there, we were not allowed to select a tent site. The rest room and shower were okay, but the facility was extremely loud all night with trains and trucks, and all the locations are tiny. Our... More

Now that it's daylight, I see that most of the streets and pads are paved and level. The big plus here is that they are open late (until about 11 PM every night) so those like us who went to the Medora Musical can check in. There was nothing wrong with the level grass site that we had, complete with... More

Our campsite was surrounded by abandoned run down vehicles. Upon arrival you have to wait for staff to help you park your rv. There was one person ahead of us and we waited about 45 minutes in 90 degree weather. Not fun! I found staff to have an unprofessional appearance and be unhelpful. They don't allow you to call with... More

We just returned from a 6000 mile RV road trip out west. I had never heard of MEDORA until I planned to go to Roosevelt National Park and I sure did not know about Red Trail Campground. We saw the listing on our GPS and called for a reservation with GOOD SAM discount. This was one of our favorite stops. We... More

Family owned campground. Nice people. The guy does a great job of getting you into your spot. Kinda a nice thing! There is a pretty big selection of groceries there in the office. Free wi-fi. The spot we had was right up to a big "badland type" hill. We will stay here every time we visit Medora. We have now... More

Called to make a reservation and ended up hanging up after telling the lady on the phone that she was rude and there was no way we would stay there. First I was put on "hold" as she proceeded to have a conversation in the background. Then when I inquired about making a reservation after answering a few questions she... More

This is an easy access campsite, the owners are friendly and helpful. It can get very busy and some sites are rather lacking in space. Clean restroom and showers that work fine but whole campsite could do with a bit of a refurbishment. Cable TV and wifi very good. We would recommend.

We called on the same day and got a full hook up site with good Sam discount. We were led out to our campsite and guided back into site. Our site has a picnic bench and a park style charcoal barbecue set up. The picnic table was missing one bench and the barbecue set up was dirty and filled with... More
