For being the least expensive hotel in Sitka, it's definitely a good deal. Our room was very clean with two queen beds & one twin bed, along with a view of the bridge. I've stayed at the Westmark before and it's not worth spending money on a "name" because in Alaska that really doesn't matter! The Sitka Hotel was quint,... more
Great, friendly staff and excellent location makes this a popular hotel. Once I went down the shades-of-rehab hallway, the stark room chilled my already damp body from the continual rains in Sitka. The bed is in the middle of the room--neither the head or foot are against a wall. The furniture looks like something purchased at a Goodwill fire sale.... more
I wish I would have read these reviews. The place was just awful. It was super noisy in the morning and at night. There was a very loud bar next door. The cops had to be summoned to break up a fight down the hall. It was very scary. I am a fisherman and construction worker so I could handle... more
We booked 5 months ahead and reserved a renovated large room with a microwave, refrigerator and two beds. We called 2 weeks prior to our arrival and confirmed these specific arrangements. However, when we checked in we were given a room with a bed and television--no chair, lamps, nothing. Bare bones. When we went back to the desk their attitude... more
I missed my cruise out of Vancouver and flew to Sitka to meet the boat and needed a cheep place to crash. Cheep it was, but don't expect much. Very quirky, OLD, bare bones. No amenities, not even an alarm clock. My window had to be propped open with the trash can and the beds were twins. If you just... more
Date:7/29-8/1/06 Trip Advisor member:onoman, SoCal Went to Sitka for a fishing trip. This was planned at the last moment and we were able to find a hotel room at the Sitka Hotel. This is the oldest hotel in town and has a terrific location for site seeing and the major fishing pier. This is a fairly spartan place, but hey,... more
The hotel burned recently and it stills smells horrible, we would have liked to know before we arrived that it was so bad. We could not stay due to smell and attitude. more
I should have passed this one by! I found it dirty, noisy and really old. Felt creepy here and couldn't wait to leave. Even though I knew it was old (vintage) I thought it would have been a little nicer (updated). Could not open the bathroom door without hitting to toilet. Bathroom looked dirty overall and wasn't to sure about... more
My wife and I stayed here for 10 days while performing at the Sitka festival. The hotel is funky to say the least. Our room was clean, roomy, extremely practical with two fabulous views. The staff is a bit eccentric, like the hotel, but friendly and helpful. The Plaza it isn't but we found it an extraordinary value and will... more
