This was our first time staying at Once Upon a Mountain. Willie the Dog met us when we came through the door and led us to Christa, the owner and our host. The breakfasts were delicious and Christa was kind enough to join us and provide great company and her travel stories. The view was spectacular sitting on the deck... More

We love this place. We've been there four times. We particularly enjoy talking with the host, Christa, as she is social, interesting, and fun. The house is beautiful in a quiet location with a spectacular view, which makes it ideal for couples seeking a peaceful getway.

This is the second time I go and I will certainly go back. This is a wonderful place and the innkeeper / owner is really nice and makes every effort needed so you have a great stay. I loved this place so much the first time that I took my parents with me the second time. I love this place!... More

Christa is a fun and social host. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The place was very clean, quiet as promised, the view was spectacular. The breakfast was one of my favorite parts.

Beautiful home in a quiet, incredible setting. Christa was a perfect host and made everyone feel like family. This is really a terrific experience and a perfect retreat if you want to spend days hiking in the Shenandoahs.

Beautiful place, very personal reception by the 'lady of the house', excellent breakfast, not so easy to find/reach, some 20 Mi outbound from the Skyline Drive, but that is part of the adventure, visit the Luray caverns.

Wonderful stay at a beautiful bed and breakfast. Christa was wonderful and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Sleeping Beauty room which had a spectacular view. Coffee was outside our door each morning before breakfast was served. The town of Luray is about a 20 minute drive and has quaint restaurants and shops. Our favorites were... More

We called late, but managed to get a wonderful room with a large balcony and jacuzzi. The inn is modern and located in a very private mountain setting. Christa, the owner, treated us like family and very helpful in pointing out the best places to eat in the town of Lurray. Breakfast was outstanding. We lingered at the table for... More

Had a wonderful time meeting and chatting with Christa, the place is beautiful, the setting serene and everything we could have hoped for in a couple's escape. Appreciated the dinner suggestion over the mountain at the Thornton River Grille - great food. Can't wait to go back!
