It was a cold rainy day when we arrived at Once Upon a Mountain. Christa warmly welcomed us and showed us our rooms. The bed was wonderful. I think I slept better than I do in my own bed. Nice hot tub. When the weather cleared there was a beautiful view as the B&B is at the top of the... more

We were visiting our daughter who is studying at nearby UVA in Charlottesville. We wanted a quiet place where we could simply chill out and enjoy a few quiet restful days in the mountains far from the madding crowd. We were astounded when we arrived by the sheer beauty of the mountainside location. Christa greeted us and showed us her... more

Can't say enough about the location, rooms and service provided by Christa at Once Upon a Mountain. This B&B is a beautiful home and the property is breathtaking. Christa is an excellent guide to the sights of the Shennedoah Valley and provided us with a special dinner experience that we will long cherish. more

Christa makes every effort to accomodate guests. Her house is a very warm and welcoming home away from home. She allows you to feel welcome enough to have anything you would feel necessary for a perfect stay.... Her house is your house! She joined us for an afternoon glass of wine and we were captivated by her stories of other... more

In an amazing setting on a hillside facing Skyline Drive. Christa, the innkeeper, is most gracious and interesting and makes you feel like you at your home. Clean rooms, huge living room, with a fireplace. The views are startling and the quient and calm will infuse you. The breakfasts are first rate. You could go a lot of places (I... more

My husband and I pulled out of the driveway to travel home and the first thing he said was, "Great suggestion honey...I don't know when I've ever felt so relaxed." We spent 3 nights there and what a beautiful place... Christa was such a welcoming host, an amazing cook who prepared, fresh, delicious breakfasts each day. The house is completely... more

A lovely and quietly understated B&B. Crista, our hostess, is a friendly young lady who instantly makes you feel right at home. In fact, that is the surprising charm of this B&B: Crista makes you feel as if you lived there instead of being a transient guest. The place is a gorgeous home with wonderful views that has been converted... more

We just got back from a three night stay at "Once upon a Mountain", Christa, our hostess, was very pleasant and a great cook. The rooms (3) are large and comfortable. We sat back, read a book, made a fire, went for a couple of walks in the Shenandoah and just let the stress fall away. I really prefer a... more
