What an amazing place. This is the best b&b I have stayed in.Christa is a great host and really welcoming. She went the extra mile providing s'mores when we said we were going to light the fire pit. The views are incredible and you can just kick back and relax. While you are there it feels like home with use... More

Christa and Willie are the perfect hosts. My husband and I planned to stay here for one night with his parents who were in from England. One night quickly turned into two, with us booking another weekend away in late October! We all absolutely had a fantastic little retreat. Thank you again Christa for being such a wonderful hostess in... More

My husband and I booked a three night stay. The setting and house are cozy and inviting, so many nice touches - like a tray of morning coffee left just outside our bedroom door! Such a tranquil spot to read a book, enjoy a dark expansive night sky, camp fire, incredible view of the mountains and the peace & quite... More

Overall we enjoyed our stay in the Princess and the Pea suite. The pros: the view was great, the breakfast was delicious and we had a great campfire with smores. If you're expecting a luxury B&B, you'll be disappointed. The cons: the bed was quite uncomfortable, the bathroom needed a good sweeping, we followed the instructions to receive new linens... More

Our weekend at Once Upon a Mountain was delightful. We had a busy wedding weekend to attend with only a few extra hours to enjoy the area. Christa was the consummate hostess- great breakfasts, very comfortable spacious room, lovely views from everywhere in the house, and helpful recommendations for area hikes and dining. European style and class!

On a long vacation drive from Michigan via Shenandoah to Washington DC , we had the good fortune to find this gem of a place for a midway stopover. Secluded, away from the hustle bustle of the town, we were a bit lost, but as soon as we came upon the lovely log cabin at the top of the mountain,... More

My husband, our 2 boys (ages 10 & 11), and I spent 3 nights with Christa & Willie (woof!) this past week. It was an amazing get away for our family. Plush, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts, breath taking views, and a friendly, accommodating hostess. We couldn't have asked for more. We hiked, bird-watched, soaked in the hot tub, had a... My wife and I just spent a weekend at Once Upon a Mountain and it was memorable in all the right ways. A great way to disconnect (from work and technology) and reconnect (to oneanother). The breakfast was top notch, and my wife cooks gourmet food regularly - but I was still impressed with these dishes. The B&B was awesome,... More

If you are visiting the Luray/Shenandoah area this B & B is the only place you will want to stay. Situated literally at the top of a mountain, you will be enchanted as soon as you arrive. The scenery is beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious and Christa is a wonderful host. You may never want to leave to explore the area.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our weekend at Once Upon a Mountain. It has good access to Luray restaurants, but is very private and quite up in the foothills. Accommodations were spacious and comfortable, and Christina was incredibly accommodating. After I left an item there she shipped it out the next day. I highly recommend and look forward to... More
