Neither my husband nor I had ever been to a Bed & Breakfast before staying at Once Upon a Mountain. What a wonderful experience! From the beautiful view, coffee in the morning, sitting on the deck right outside of our room, to the fascinating conversations with Christa and the other guests, cleanliness of the entire home, delicious food, and comfortable... Thanks so much Christa for opening your heart and home to my husband and I. Our trip was picture perfect with delicious food, warm company, beautiful surroundings and a gracious host! We really enjoyed being outdoors, despite the cold weather- the hottub waswell maintained and always kept at 104 :) The sleeping beauty room was beautiful and spacious- perfect for... More

A last minute invitiation from a friend landed me at Once Upon a Mountain last weekend. Barring a late arrival that had us attempting to navigate the mountains in the dark (save yourself from this and arrive in the daylight), we were overly pleased to find a gorgeous lodge-style facility with 3 suites for guests. We stayed in the Princess... More

It was such a nice place to stay for a weekend away. The Inn keeper was so sweet and very helpful with suggestions for what to do around the town. The room and amenities were very nice and made for a great overall experience. Best of all was the mountain view.

Once Upon a Mountain was the perfect weekend getaway from start to finish. The House is gorgeous, and our room, the Princess on a Pea suite, was cozy and comfortable. We stepped out onto the patio to a stunning view of the moon over the mountains. It was great to sit in the hot tub with a chill in the... More

My wife and I came here for our 1 year Anniversary. We Loved every second of it. We stayed in the Sleeping Beauty Suite. The view from our room was breathtaking. Christa was an Amazing Host, she made us feel like we were visiting a relative we had not seen in a while, or a good friend. She was so... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights in the Queen's Suite and had a fabulous time from start to finish. The view from the inn was absolutely incredible. The suite was spacious and clean. And Christa, the innkeeper, made a delicious breakfast each morning and gave us good recommendations for food in nearby Luray as well as for hikes... More

How could any place be more perfect? Lovely house, beautiful setting, comfy bed, great breakfast and the most fantastic hostess. We were fortunate enough to book during the height of autumn leaf season. The attached photo is from nearby Skyline Drive. We hope to come a 3rd time and more!

Drive up a narrow gravel winding road to the back of what looks like a Swiss chalet. Walk through the front door to a huge cathedral ceilinged living room with an entire wall of windows offering a breathtaking view of the mountains in the distance. Walk across the room and through the glass doors to the deck-like porch that wraps... More

Completely enjoyed our stay at Once Upon a Mountain. My Mom sold her house on the mountain west of Luray 15 years ago and hadn't returned since. We grew up spending our weekends in the Luray area so Mom was thrilled returning. Felt like old times! The room was clean and spacious, as is the home, Christa was delightful and... More
