This quaint escape was just what we needed. It made for a spectacular backdrop for my birthday and valentine's day weekend. My husband and I were able to truly relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the cozy yet spacious townhouse-like suite we rented. The fireplace added to the experience for sure. Talk about checking out for the weekend...pitch black out... More

There are so many reviews here but I wanted to add a ditto to all the positive reviews. I loved our stay here and could not think of a single complaint. Karen was the epitome of hospitality and customer service. Amazing stay.

A perfect private retreat tucked into the arms of Shenandoah National Park. Stay in a cozy, spotless timber frame cabin on 15 secluded acres just minutes from the acclaimed Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. The friendly, accommodating owners live on site and seem to have thought of everything, from home-baked treats to welcome you, local wines on hand, an outdoor... More

My husband and I visited shadow mountain escapes for 4 nights in April and would highly recommend to any one needing some down time. It's just a 1 1/2 hour drive from Washington, D.C. And super easy to get to. Having said that, drive carefully if you are arriving for the first time in the dark as the exit off... More

A charming and beautifully maintained cluster of four immaculate 1- and 2-bedroom housekeeping units in a beautiful and secluded wooded setting only minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park make Shadow Mountain Escape a unique and inviting couples retreat. My wife and I stayed six nights at SME for a fall vacation to appreciate the late October... More

My husband and I planned a mini getaway to the Shenandoah Valley over the recent federal holiday and were fortunate enough to have found this truly amazing escape! It was more beautiful and relaxing than we could have imagined and only wish we could have stayed longer. Our stay started off with a wonderful welcome by one of the SME... More

One of the nicest, quaintest, friendliest, best places we have EVER stayed - and we have done quite a bit of traveling. I can not say enough great things about this gem in the mountains. Will be back for sure.

Because they are delicious and you will be obligated to devour them. Perfect place for a romantic getaway. Secluded, but easy to get to places in Luray and the surrounding communities, and you can get pizza delivered to the cabin. Fancy that! Beautiful setting, reasonably priced, the owners are both helpful and respectful of one's privacy. Can't get any better... More

This is a hidden gem! My wife and I spent a few days just unplugging from the outside world and hiking. The owners, Ralph and Karen, are uber friendly and make you feel at home immediately. The cabins are spacious and well decorated, the timber framing is reminiscent of old Germany and brought back fond memories. You owe it to... More
