My wife made the reservation to stay at this lodge after our two day sojourn through Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. She picked it because it was fairly cheap and close to the entrance. Driving up to the place we were pleased by just how very close it was to the entrance. It has a very quaint mid-20th century... More

We had a "king suite" on the second floor, which was a good-sized room and had a refrigerator. The room, however, was drab and depressing. Decor could be described as "brown". Everything was brown and old. It would have been nice to be able to open the windows to listen to the nearby river and to let in some fresh... More

Our family of 5 stayed in Alta cottage for two nights. Comfortable rooms and beds. Very friendly staff, pool was very much welcome after a day discovering Sequoia NP. Decor, furniture and cleanliness were below par, which for the price charged is difficult to accept, but location is perfect...

Buckeye Tree Lodge is literally a mile away from the Sequoia national park entrance, has a good pool and is right next door to a charming restaurant that overlooks the Kaweah River. While the room we stayed in was basic it was clean and had everything we needed (including a fridge and television). Our only complaint was that the air... More

We stayed in the Alta cottage which was across the street from the Buckeye Tree lodge. The cottage had a small living room with a pull out couch (that matress had seen better days), small full kitchen, a bedroom with 2 queen beds and a bathroom. The best feature was a large deck out front, shared between the Alto cottage... More

I have no idea why the last few reviews were so negative. Our family just stayed there one night after spending a few days traveling Yosemite, Kings canyon and Sequoia National parks. Great location next to the river which we could hear all night and it was a great relaxing sound. The A/C worked fine, the room we got was... More

We stayed one night at this hotel as part of a very long road trip this summer. The positives: The location is great if you are looking to visit Sequoia National Park (it is 1 mile from the entrance), and the owner/operators are very nice. However, the accommodations themselves were not what we'd hoped. We booked this based on many... More

I feel I should disclose from the start that we visited for one night during a heat wave: it was 109 degrees the day we visited. That may have colored my feelings about the place, however: We stayed in a king room. Very small. Cinderblock walls. Drab decor. The bathroom was 4 feet square; shower is 2 feet square. If... More

The Buckeye Tree Lodge is located at the base of one of the entrances to Sequoia National Park. It is what you would expect of a property at this location: Motel 6 décor at rip-off prices. But we indulged, despite our better judgement. This motel is the “Not Quite Motel,” because so many things did not quite work. They provide... More

The owners are incredibly gracious and accomodating. The roaring river lulled us to sleep every night. The landscaping is lovely from the buckeye trees to the blooming cactus. The pool is refreshing. The rooms are not fancy but they are clean and comfortable. And Sequoia National Forest is literally around the first bend. We enjoyed our stay very much and... More
