Spent a week here for business. If I were going back to Santa Fe I'd find a better value, as there are lots of hotels within walking distance of the Plaza. Pretty expensive, the staff is nice enough and the Plazuela restaurant is pretty good, although I'd suggest forgetting the French pastry shop as it's pretty expensive and just so... more

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at the La Fonda and it was wonderful. There was a basket of fruit and cheese waiting for us in our room -- and a bottle of champagne. When they found out we didn't drink alcohol, the next time we stepped into our room, there was a bottle of sparkling cider in its place. The... more

We love history! It was our last night of our Rt 66 Adventure from Chicago to NM and we splurged on this very expensive (just under $300/night!) hotel that was once a Harvey House. Before we left home, we received a Visitors' Guide to Santa Fe in the mail courtesy of La Fonda. This was going to be very nice,... more

During this, my third stay in four years at La Fonda, I found the experience to be better than I had remembered. The hotel is well-geared to the business traveler as there were a multitude of 'real' electrical outlets, plentiful desk and office set-up space not to mention the complimentary (and quiet) Business Center where documents could be printed. An... more

We stayed at La Fonda for four nights while exploring Santa Fe, and loved both the hotel and the city. Our room was very nice, not large, but beautifully furnished with SW furniture. The decorations in the hotel are lovely, the painted glass around the restaurant, La Plazuela, especially striking. Even the pillars in the parking garage are decorated! The... more

I lived in NM for several years in the 80's and had a favorable impression of La Fonda as being very funky and characteristic of Santa Fe. However, after years, and finally being able to afford to stay there, we found it to be very sanitized and uninteresting. No more funk or character: You might as well be staying at... more

The artistic decor and location on the plaza more than makes up for some of the faults at La Fonda (like unhelpful and pretentious concierge service). Front desk was excellent though., Room was small and faced a roof - air conditioner was tolerable. Pool area was cozy and artistic- with a great jacuzzi area (104 degrees !). The 5th floor... more

I thought this hotel would be much better than it was. Rooms very small - window looked straight out onto wall and roof - very claustrophobic. No elevator from car park. Staff had very strange attitude and really didn't seem to know anything about the area. e.g. at around 11.30 AM I asked them where I could get breakfast and... more

The WORST hotel I've stayed in Santa Fe. We come to SF several times a year and this time, we decided to try La Fonda. The teaser was the "3rd night free" deal which, in fact, is not a deal. False advertising leads one to believe they are getting a good deal. Here's what we got. Room 146 is the... more

The La Fonda is right on the Plaza in Santa Fe, so it is a perfect location for exploring Santa Fe. The La Fonda is a very old hotel, but they have tried their best to keep it clean and fresh but still keep the old feeling. You can probably find other hotel rooms that are nicer, but it is... more
