The El Rey is beautiful and a wonderful place to stay. The grounds are filled with flowers and the lay out gives one the impression of a private oasis. The staff has to be the most friendly and efficient in Santa Fe. The rooms are older, but are kept up immaculately. I wanted to take the large, light-filled bathroom home... More

Growing up in Santa Fe, I never needed a place to stay but the El Rey was well known for gardens and wonderful atmosphere. When I returned for my fiftieth high school reunion, I was delighted to find original real Santa Fe ambiance still here. Wonderful staff, quiet room even near Busy Cerrillos Road, every convenience in the room, good... More

My husband and I absolutely LOVED this hotel. The gardens are incredibly beautiful and it had a fabulous ambiance. We even had our room upgraded because we were on our honeymoon. The service was excellent and the view from our room was great. The beds were very comfortable and we both slept well. Breakfast was included in the price and... More

We stayed in room 60, October 16th-October 19th. The room was clean and the staff was pleasant. The hotel and grounds are quaint, and looks like what one would expect in "Santa Fe"; Southwestern style, adobe clad buildings and furnishings. However, had this hotel been in any other city in America, one would consider it old and outdated. The bathroom... More

Thank you for your review of our unit 60, one of our very popular rooms in the Spanish Colonial Courtyard. This particular courtyard was designed for our inn in order to feature all three Santa Fe architectural styles, classic Pueblo (unit 60), Territorial style, and the Spanish Colonial style. Unit 60 has a lovely seating area with bancos, custom furnishings,... More

We arrived later in the day and were very pleasantly surprised by the magnitude of the gorgeous landscaping in this oasis... the plantings and flowers were really beautiful and my husband and I took the time to really explore the grounds. It's much bigger than it looks, and while it is on a busy street our room was quiet and... More

The El Rey was recommended by a friend and I soon learned why. It is an older place, somewhat dated and kitchy, but very comfortable and the staff make you feel as if they have been waiting at the door for you. The lounge and breakfast room welcome you to the southwest with breakfast burritos a nice touch. It is... More

A nice change of pace after a week of traveling and staying in chain motels. The rooms feel like you're in the southwest with rugged furniture and beamed ceilings. I really enjoyed walking around and looking at the gardens and all the nooks and crannies with fountains, flowers, and other surprises. Breakfast was nice with hot tortillas offered. Very easy... FYI these are vintage.... Had trouble plugging in electric items; cpap machine, phone, camera, computer. When I mention this I was told unit from the 1930's and have not been electrically updated. Vintage sized too, kinda tiny rooms; as was par for back in the day.... If you are use to modern pillow top mattresses you may have a very... More

We have stayed at the El Rey in the past. They are very consistent with the level of service and the quality of the rooms. Everything was great during our stay. We used the hot tub one evening which was relaxing. The rooms are starting to get a bit dated, but the cozy feel and the spaciousness of the rooms... More
