Not only is this hotel easy on the wallet (compared to all the others in Santa Fe), its setting is lovely, there is ample parking (that you don't have to pay for), and the breakfast is a full one and great. While the inn, built in 1936 (and with additions, etc.), is old, its charm more than makes up for... More

This is one fab little motel! It doesn't have a motel feel to it, more like a hotel or resort. El Rey is beautifully decorated throughout the grounds and the rooms are a comfortable size, very clean and have a very good air con system. We stayed for 2 nights: we used the outdoor hot tub both nights, under the... More

We stayed here four nights in August, 2014. Although the hotel is located about 15 minutes from Old Santa Fe, it is on a thoroughfare that was very convenient for the places we wanted to visit. The Inn is charming, the grounds are very pretty, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, we had a patio seating... More

My wife and I were looking for a hotel close to downtown, but far enough away to escape the "Santa Fe" cost. We assumed that meant we would lose some of the Santa Fe charm in order to be economical. When we arrived at El Rey we found that not only did we have the charm and warmth of a... More

Our stay at the El Rey Inn in Santa Fe was better than we expected. The large property, with it's many gardens, delightful little statues and fountains, are well kept, just beautiful. The continental breakfast was delicious with just the right splash of a little Mexican cuisine. Our only one small problem, was the shower head would not engage from... More

A very retro motel about 2 miles from the Plaza and next to the Pantry Restaurant. The check-in and check-out staff as well as the breakfast staff were very warm and friendly. The room was large and clean. If you like retro and a bit outdated, this is the place for you.

I have been here twice before! This time solo, which is different ! I chose a room in the old section due to budget and needing only one bed. During the process, I changed my mind and the guy at the front desk was patient and allowed me to switch rooms. I chose room 37, a single room and I... More

We found this property searching the Internet. What a find! It is a few miles from the Plaza on the original Route 66. The property has gardens, fountains, mini-parks and great landscaping. The pool is terrific and the rooms are totally up to snuff. Perfect for a family - or a honeymoon. The El Rey was built in the middle... More
