Our family stayed here the night after we stayed at La Fonda on the Plaza and I enjoyed the El Rey so much more because it was quiet, charming, comfortable and had plenty of parking. This hotel is on a main street, but is surrounded by trees and set back a little from the road, so it is quiet. We... More

There are many very nice hotels and motels in Santa Fe, but once we found the El Rey we haven't stayed anywhere else. They have a photo of the inn taken in 1936 when consisted of a few buildings sitting in the middle of absolutely nowhere on Route 66. Now the Inn has courtyards, lawns, fountains, and benches. Birds are... More

We had a really good time at this hotel. It's a good location about 5 minutes from the centre of town. Rooms are very spacious and well maintained. Good pool and hot tubs. Very good breakfast and overall an enjoyable stay. We would come back if we visit the area.

Located along the original Route 66, this almost 80 year old hotel is steeped in tradition. Throughout the decades, the hotel has expanded and at this writing has 90+ rooms and suites. The grounds are well taken care of with mature plants and trees, lots of flowers decorate the paths and around the buildings. Our room was a nice size,... More

This is exceptionally good value for money, including breakfast, WiFi, pool, hot tub access in clean, rustic rooms. You'll need a car to access the centre of Santa Fe and if used to being at sea level a good idea to keep well hydrated. We were upgraded and near the pool area, so it was very quiet, some of the... I had read fantastic reviews of this property so I decided to stay there. There are some really nice things about the place and some not so great things. It is very charming and quaint, an old Route 66 motel built in 1936. The grounds and the exterior of the building are lovely and exude charm. I stayed in their... More

This fulfilled my fantasy about a great hotel and then some. Wonderful location, close enough to eh Plaza but far enough away to be quiet. Easy access, two hot tubs, a pool, wonderful staff. Love the vintage feel with the modern day amenities. Grounds were spectacular, lots of little tucked away benches and areas to sit out. Birds everywhere. Really... More

I stayed at El Rey for six nights in April visiting a very sick relative. The staff at El Rey was lovely, and the continental breakfast was adequate, but my room was cramped, and hot water was a problem. It took several minutes running the water for it to get hot. My room, #92, was on the far side of... More

As with all discussions there are two sides to every situation and with checking with our service orientated reception and maintenance staff there is no one who recollects a problem with the Internet in Unit 92 during the period reviewed. We have a very responsive tech team that would be called in to check any problem with our internet or... More

It's not in the downtown area, but it's a good value. I stayed on the second floor which had a balcony where I could read while overlooking the pool. For the money, it's hard to top this hotel. Great staff, good breakfast and room.

El Rey Inn is our standby when not wanting to pay plaza rates when visiting Santa Fe - Great location, nice rooms and beautiful grounds! Less expensive than staying on or by the Plaza! Rooms aren't huge but are comfortable! Our last room looked onto a garden with a fountain! Enjoy!
