After thirty years, I returned to the El Rey with family. It is a charming place and one of the original motels on Santa Fe's old motel row. Cerrillos Road, however, presents a challenge for entering and exiting. We stayed fine nights a "double" room -- two double beds and another room with two twins. This gave each of us... More

The drive along Cerillos Road, the old Route 66 is pretty unremarkable - what may have been a romantic route is just a standard city highway with few outstanding features. That is, until you turn into the motel grounds, and everything changes. White adobe low level buildings abound, surrounded by beautiful gardens and other features harking back to its earlier... The rooms were comfortable, spotless and well planned with a bright bathroom area with high windows and lots of natural light. The outdoor space was charming with lots of different areas for sitting, all surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers. Pool and both hot tubs (one covered and one open air) were good. The buffet style breakfast was good and... More

This is our third stay over the years and it is as good as ever. Love the gardens and the different seating and patio areas. The accommodation is varied with some rooms bigger than others. We prefer the rooms at the back of the property away from the road. There is a very nice swimming pool and two hot tubs.... More

We always stay at the El Rey on the old Route 66. Its old with history and some aspects of the hotel, but it has been updated and we thoroughly enjoy our stay every time. Its clean, full of charm and a pretty good bed. The breakfast provided is good, but we always seem to go out to one of... More

Imagine a vintage "Route66" type drive in motel. Spotless, clean, and relaxed place to stay, and venture out around town. Immaculate landscape with the Southwest architecture you want to see in this part of the country. Would definitely return to Sante Fe, and for sure stay here again. Joe

We stayed one night at this hotel which we came across by chance when we arrived in Santa Fe. It is an older property but so charming!! The gardens really make it special! The room we had was on the small side, but not unexpected given the time period it was built. It was clean and comfortable and reasonably priced.... More

Our room was in the older section and was OK but comfortable. The grounds are nice and the pool was great. It was surprisingly quiet and the breakfast area was very nice. Not a great selection but good enough. I agree with other review that its long past time to upgrade the TV's. In looking at other review photos, next... More

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel for a business trip in Santa Fe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was comfortable, the sheets on the bed were of very high thread count, and everything was noticeably clean. Also of note were the multiple hot tubs, sauna, fantastic pool, better-than-normal continental breakfast, and gardens throughout... More
