just got back from a weekend at friday harbor, which was great. the hotel experience left a little to be desired, however. while the location was great, the room we had was average for the price - about $175US per night. nothing went horribly wrong. the staff were friendly and welcoming. having just spent a weekend in ocean shores for... more

Definitely a mixed experience at the Earthbox Hotel on San Juan Island. Let’s begin with the positives: friendly and helpful staff, great location, free bicycles, indoor pool, complimentary coffee & tea. Most of the negatives have to do with the older building. The walls are so thin, we could hear the people talking in the next room, even with our... more

I spent quite a bit of time trying to determine where to stay on San Juan Island, and after much consideration, I chose Earthbox. (It was around Valentine's Day, so things were booking up). We TRULY loved our stay at Earthbox. I do believe we got the best room in the entire establishment, so that might have made a difference.... more

For some reason my experiences ( I've stayed twice and am about to book again ) at Elements/now Earthbox have been very different from most of those I've read about in the Reviews- I've found it to be absolutely terrific! The staff at the desk were welcoming and polite and accommodated my request to stay in my room past check-out... more

They advertise themselves as a Hybrid Hotel...just a bone tired 1950 Motel with some paint and new furnishings. Plumbing is still old and noisy with lots of sound travelling between walls. I really felt that I paid way too much for this room and regretted every hour I stayed there. Made my trip to Friday Harbour a BUST! more

I'm not sure what drove the complaints of others. We had a "Sea Place," which translates to a large, suite-like room with two queen beds and a kitchenette with dining area. The fall season price was $147 per night for two nights. I've stayed in worse places for far more money. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the dishware,... more

My husband and I just spent 5 days at Elements in Friday Harbor and had a delightful experience. The room was attractively furnished and very clean. The mattresses had just been replaced and were incredibly comfortable with several pillows. The towels were very thick and luxurious. Finally, we found the staff to be very courteous and accomodating. The location was... more

I stayed at elements this past weekend for one night. I booked here out of necessity as I could not find any other accommodation on the island at the last minute. I was a bit nervous as there are some very bad reviews here. The fact is, elements do not advertise themselves as a 5 star luxury resort. Basically it... more

I am not sure how or why they call it a hotel and spa this is a motel with hotel prices. Our toilet had a few flushing problems Yuck! Having a small dorm room refrigerator sitting on the floor with a microwave stacked on it and a coffee pot stacked on top of that well if that sounds like a... more

The property is not worth the $200+ per night. We had originally paid for two nights - but when we arrived, the site was not as we had hoped (it's actually more of a vintage motel that has been spruced up with a new coat of paint) and had requested to shorten our stay to one night. The hotel would... more
