We stayed at the DI because it seemed fairly inexpensive, and we were very unfamiliar with the area. Friday Harbor was by far one of the best places we visited on our trip, but I'd look elsewhere for lodging if we were to return. Stayed in August 2004. The walls and floors are paper thin...you can hear water running and foot steps in adjacent rooms all night long. Bring earplugs. Rooms and bathrooms are clean...but don't expect pristine conditions since its an older place. Furniture and fixtures all show their age. We picked the Discovery Inn because it was the cheapest reservation we could find on the island. Staff were nice and helpful, and the grounds do have attractive gardens and a jacuzzi & small sauna.
