If you're going to Friday Harbor, you have to stay with Isle and Helmuth on the Slow Season. They are without a doubt the nicest hosts on the water. we had a wonderful comfortable bed to sleep in, wonderful breakfasts made by Ilse herself with fresh fruit; I think she picked the blackberries herself too. She even introduced us to... more

The Slowseason offers you the opportunity to live aboard an authentic wooden boat! It's the only B&B of its kind on San Juan Island. You may have to climb down into your room, and you may bump your head on the ceiling, but what do you expect - it's a boat! That's part of the fun, right? Having crewed on... more

A unique and down-to-earth way to experience Friday Harbor. The ship was clean and full of character and authenticity. The rooms were comfortable, the bedding clean and the setting spectacular. The beauty of staying aboard this wooden ship B&B is really only rivalled by the exceptional quality of service of the Austrian hosts/owners, Ilsa and Helmuth. We were welcomed aboard... more

Ilsa and Helmut offer the most amazing B&B experience we have EVER had in all our travels world-wide! What a wonderful couple, sharing their love of the sea, and a million dollar view for such a bargain price! We are both in love with the ship and all the wonderful people we met on the island! We could never imagine... more

My husband and I stayed on the very delightful boat, Slowseason! It was a very nice little trip that we planned for our birthdays. The Euro breakfasts were superb! My fave was something called Puffertis. A European pancake basically! The stories that Helmuth told were so awesome. We sat out on deck for hours on our last night as listen... more

In June we stayed on a Sailboat B & B and loved our weekend. The Wharfside B & B is just delightful. It was a great escape from the busy city life and work scheduled. We sat on deck and laughed under the evening stars. Woke to a yummy breakfast and hot tea in the Captains Kitchen. We recommend this... more

My boyfriend's son was visiting from Arizona, wanting to see some of what our beautiful Pacific Northwest has to offer. I immediately thought of The Slow Season on San Juan Island, for a special treat he would always remember. We stayed there last year in June as a birthday surprise for Joe who loves boats and ships. It was a... more

My wife & I wanted something different and memorable to mark our 40th anniversary, & staying aboard the Slow Season (Wharfside B&B) filled the bill. What better "harbor view" than to be located in the harbor! We had a ringside seat from which to observe watercraft, large and small. It's an easy walk from the ferry terminal, close to restaurants... more

Having read some of the previous scathing reviews of the Slow Season, I felt the need to redress them somewhat. It’s true; if you're expecting 5 star luxury then the Slow Season is probably not for you. And I have to admit, as you walk along the dock past all the gleaming white, million dollar gin palaces, it is initially... more

I didn't know what to expect when I booked my stay on the Slowseason, and, as is true in most situations in life, that made my experience all the richer. Now if you want the Four Seasons, or even the Holiday Inn, then don't book a room on the Slowseason. Just remember this: nothing ventured, nothing gained--and what you gain... more
