I awoke the next morning sick with flu like symptoms! I was also covered in little bites. Which I had checked upon returning home. My doctor said they were bed bugs. The Hotel was nasty, filthy, gross! It wasn't clean in the least. Internet didn't work. Service was terrible. more

San Antonio is really great to visit. I attended a bar association educational function for three days at the Menger. As a fan of history and the movie "Giant," I was very excited to be able to stay here, next door to the Alamo just in time for the re-enactments starting in February. Staff was kind as you would expect... more

My husband's company booked us here for two nights (I am writing from hotel right now). After he told me where we were staying, I read the terrible reviews and was very concerned. I do have allergies and other reviews mentioned the stale, moldy smell. We decided to continue with the reservation, as my husband did not want to stay... more

The hotel maintains an outstanding historical environment with generally good service. The theft of my cell phone from our vehicle while in the care of valet service is unacceptable. Upon reporting to the front desk, security, lost and found and guest services I received no response. It only takes one individuals actions to damage the reputation of a hotel and... more

I paid $25 to have my car parked and they ripped out the cupholder from it. After one month of talking to the hotel and ins. company, CNA, they have decided not to fix my cupholder which was damaged by the parking attendant. I think this is lousy customer service and you shouldn't have to worry about your car when... more

We love The Menger Hotel. The hallways are lined with old photos from the 1800's, and the suites of famous or infamous are displayed on the doors to the rooms. Room service is reasonable. The Menger bar, where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders, is located on the 1st floor and is easy to get to. Full of antiques and... more

This was my fifth stay at the Menger. All bookings, including this one, were for business. I have noticed a definite decline in the Menger over the last few years. This was by far, the worst experience I have had staying there. The stale odor in the hotel is nearly overpowering. The carpets throughout the hotel are filthy. The condition... more

I've always wanted to stay here. Have visited San Antonio maybe 20 time over the past 30 years and the Menger was always there beckoning me yet I never was able to quite arrange for it. This time, however, I made a point of staying at this wonderful Historic Hotel. My room as a regular room, no suite, at about... more

We have stayed at the Menger many times over the years, and have been so disappointed the last couple of times. The staff is wonderful, but the hotel is run down. Common areas are worn and dirty. The lobby smells so bad of smoke from the bar - it's gross! The workout area is small and was really hot. Our... more
