The hotel is so beautiful. This is the biggest room, area wise that I've ever had. They have accommodated our needs with a rollaway bed, refrigerator and new coffee maker. The balcony is huge and we have used it repeatedly. The historical beauty is breathtaking. I will definitely stay here next time. The fruit/cheese tray I had requested wasn't here... More

We spent a very comfortable night at the Menger, a lovely historic hotel located next to the Alamo. Our room was spacious with a great view - we requested a suite with a balcony overlooking Alamo Plaza. Whether ghosts really live there or not, it's hard not to feel something profound staying across the street from the Alamo and in... More

The Menger is our favorite downtown hotel. We have stayed there many times over the years and will stay again. This time I noticed that things are in better shape than my last visit. We love to stay in historic places and this hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Check in went very smoothly even though I was... More

I booked a room for a visit around Christmas 2012. Previously I visited the hotel when I met up with a couple of colleagues for drinks at the Menger bar. I figured the next time I was in the neighborhood that I would book a room. The location downtown was perfect, and I was looking forward to an evening with... More

I knew coming in this hotel was historic so I had to get mind right. Plus local folks call it the hunted hotel which raised an eye. But the rate for a conference wasn't that bad so booked I did. My review 1. The hotel is in the right local area park & walk to many fav spots on The... More

We wanted to be close to The Alamo and in an old hotel, so we found and booked The Menger. Our arrival didn't get off on the right foot. We were an hour early but thought we'd check if our room was ready, no luck, but the front desk clerk said she'd put a rush on it for us. We... More

My wife and I spent three days in this hotel. The room was comfortable, the staff was warm and friendly, and we loved looking at the bits of history around the hotel. Along with being centrally located to everything, the hotel has a fabulous restaurant.

We did not get the room we reserved and our view of this wonderful city was of buildings stacked next to our Window. When we asked for the king size bed that we reserved we found out there were worse rooms with worse views. We were told every room was booked, even the present suite. A noisy piece of heavy... More

This is a beautiful old old hotel. We stayed in the "historic" section on the 3rd floor. Room was small but had huge windows with plantation shutters overlooking the courtyard. Temperature in room was easy to control and there was a ceiling fan. I was worried it might be noisy but we never heard any noise at all. Bed was... More

We stayed a the Menger for both its historic value and the haunted reputation. We completely enjoyed the history and the excellent service. The staff is on par with any 5 star accommodation. We enjoyed viewing the history and the architecture. The dining room was elegant in the "old style" charm and had a very good meal. Unfortunately we were... More
