I was continuing my driving trek across the country from Los Angeles to Atlanta. My energy drained almost totally out just before San Antonio. As I was way off of my travel budget projections, I looked for something cheap and found it.
A Motel 6 for $33 ($39 with tax) on the east side of San Antonio. About $20 cheaper than other hotels around it. Low end! Yes, that is a good word for it. Not someone where I would take my wife (she'd beat me up before the car rolled in the parking lot). However, since I was traveling solo, I figured I could handle it.
Location: East of downtown, in a low income area, consisting of fast food places, gas stations and nail type shops. Safe? Well, after checking the area out, I felt fine there, but would not ask anyone else to stay there with me.
Check-In: Done through a bullet proof type window, versus face to face. However, the room keys are the coded kind, so no worries there.
Room: Extremely basic...
