I stayed in the El Tropicano Riverwalk hotel for one week. The pros: friendly staff, nice size beds, nice showerheads, The cons: you have to share the balcony with strangers from another room, the room I stayed in had roaches, and you have to pay 20 a day for parking (something that was not mentioned when you book the hotel).... The lobby of the hotel was clean and trendy. The front desk staff was nice enough but not very experienced in customer service. The snack bar food in the lobby was good. The environment in the lobby was especially nice. The live toucan and tortoise in the display area was awesome. Our room was a little too small, but it... More

The hotel was great in every aspect. Fabulous comfortable bed. However..at 8 am..the housekeeper knocked, waking us up and walked in before we could even say anything while we were still in bed! A tad bit upset. We did not have a do not disturb sign. Nor would you expect that at 8 am anyways....This experience may keep us from... More

Sorry about the unexpected early knocking and subsequent entry by housekeeping. I have passed along your comments to our Director of Housekeeping. We typically don't start checking occupied rooms until after 9:30am or until the do not disturb sign is removed. We'd love to have you back! Thank you, Tim More

We are locals who booked two night stay and ended up checking out within 1 hour of checking in. We had a two night gift certificate (for king/queen room) that we won at a charity silent auction. I called the front desk to book the stay and asked if we could pay additional charge for upgrading to a one-bedroom suite.... More

I am so sorry to hear about the mess up on our part. Please contact Michael Corral directly at the hotel, he is fully aware of the situation and is ready to set you up as requested without the upcharge. Thank you! Tim More

The hotel is located of the San Antonio river walk, what better place anywhere on the river walk. At night, sitting out on the river walk was really nice. The hotel staff was absolutely the BEST and very accomodating, Brandon at the front desk couldn't have been any better! Cudo's to Brandon! The hot breakfast buffet was delicious, they have... More

Thank you for your candid review and I have passed on your comments to Brandon who is constantly recieving comments on his great guest service. You are absolutely right, museum reach provides a completely different riverwalk experience and a quiet evening on the terrace overlooking the riverwalk is very relaxing. Parking is one of those necessary evils of San Antonio... More

The hotel was a little farther from the action but nice and quiet. Upon arriving the front desk was very helpful. Carly was very helpful in assisting me with accommodations and helped me find the great hot spots of downtown. The pleasant front desk staff will make me come back again and they made me feel welcome. Thanks again to... More

20 dollars a night to park and if you park directly across the street they will tow you big time if you do not feed the box correctly at the exact right time. We had to leave at 4am in the morning because a couple was fighting and throwing things against the wall and hollering. Police were called. Good. After... More

I'm sorry to hear about the disturbance above you and as soon as we were made aware we did have those folks removed from the hotel. You should have recieved a survey from the hotel and instead of filling out the survey if you hit "reply" the email will come directly to me and I would be happy to discuss... More

The El Tropicano Hotel is a nice hotel which does a good job delivering service with an old property and a so-so location. It is located on Lexington Street on the river (museum reach) at the first north bound lock. It has a friendly staff, a terrific hot breakfast offering and a ground level pool. My shower was never hot... More

Thank you for your review and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We celebrate 50 years on the Riverwalk later this year and are continuing to improve our hotel with the launch of El Nueve this summer. I will look into the hot water situation, thank you for bringing it to my attention. I look forward to seeing you... More

My wife and I fell in love with El Tropicano while attending a Navy ship's reunion -- a great location on the Riverwalk as water taxis provide the main mode of transportation -- although not down in the bustling commercial center, it provided for a quiet ambience in old San Antone. The staff was amazingly friendly -- usually in big... More

I'm sorry to hear that we had an opportunity to make an easy fix with your shower curtain and did not deliver. It's the details that matter in the hospitality business! I'm happy you enjoyed your stay and your reunion was a success, and that our crew was friendly and outgoing, they do a great job every day to make... More

Stayed for an important reunion and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. That is probably what liked the best about this somewhat dated lodging. While across the street from one entrance to the Riverwalk, it is about 15 minutes walk from the main Riverwalk attractions and restaurants we went to. Rooms very reasonably priced (certainly beats staying at domestic... More
