Very nice, clean. I will admit that I was a bit scared when I was driving down in the beautiful Riverwalk district among the beautiful, new hotels and then got to ours.... The rooms are updated and very comfortable. I loved reading the history of hotel and having them send my "retro" postcard to my family. :)

Parking is expensive and room smelled musky. Outside looks a bit run down. This hotel is located at the end of Riverwalk and walking to the fun restaurants and bars is quite a walk. Bar is nice and staff is friendly. Pool area has a cool fire pit that makes it nice to enjoy hanging out in that area. Would... More

We decided to visit San Antonio at the last minute and found a room at El Tropicana on Expedia for $104. Another couple advised to check the hotel's website directly for good package deals. Be warned that parking in the city is expensive ($21 valet/$16 self park.) The hotel was perfectly comfortable, the breakfast buffet had something for everyone ($3.95... More

This hotel is located near the lock at the end of the old section of the Riverwalk. If you have to be near where the restaurants and major hotels are located, this hotel is not for you. If you would prefer to be located in a quieter section of the Riverwalk yet right on the Riverwalk, this hotel is an... More

There was a lot of hair in the bed and a silverfish in the sheets. There was hair in the bathtub. The entire place smelled of mildew. Wallpaper was pealing and there was debris along baseboards and in corners. I would not recommend this hotel, we actually left after the first night of a two day reservation (non of which... More

We had a room overlooking the pool area but could not see it too well because of the roof of an empty reptile or bird house was in the way. This hotel is at the far north end of the Riverwalk and there are river taxi's to take you to the main area. If you take the "blue line" bus... More

If there was a way to give less than 1 star I would. I had booked a flight through Priceline and after the flight was secure it offered me a choice of several "3 Star" hotels in the Riverwalk area. *cough cough* 3 Stars *cough cough* Yeah Right! Since we were going to be staying at the JW Marriott on... More

Rooms were nice and clean. Our window looked out to the riverwalk, but you couldn't see anything due to the untrimmed trees blocking the view. Building is old and not attractive looking out front. Untamed landscaping, paint falling off building. We had water spots on the ceiling above our bed. Maids are very nice. Staff at front desk when we... More

This hotel is a great value. Staff is really friendly and even changed my room when I found out I was next to the elevator. Rooms and clean. 10 min walk to the Alamo. I would be glad to stay here again
