Loved this hotel. What a great value on the Riverwalk. When you walk in you get a fun Brat Pack Palm Springs vibe. The valets were great. Text them when you need your car and they were on it. The bar, coffee bar, and restaurant were nice amenities too. Fun Mexican music filtered throughout the hotel was a nice touch.... More

Hotel is average but a little dated, clean rooms and front desk personnel (except one lady) were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping needs improvement. Do not recommend the breakfast buffet. It is overpriced and offers little more than what you get free and a Comfort Suite, LaQuinta, etc. Snack, sandwich stand is good. Hotel is on the River Walk and... More

I recently stayed at this hotel for a conference. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is okay, but it really shows its' age. It is on the the far end of the Riverwalk, not downtown where all of the main activities are located. It is about a 25-30 minute walk to get to the main restaurants, bars,... More

I only stayed 1 night. The room and the hotel are not updated. The bathroom was dirty. The trash can had stuff in it, that means they didn't change it. The a/c in the room was not working correctly. The good thing is the hotel is right next to the riverwalk, but you have to walk like 10 minutes to... More

A little run down, but quieter location, room 406 handicap accessible, clean, large, near elevator. Good water pressure. Easy to get an Uber. $5 to convention center. Check in was fast, stored our luggage while we waited to head to the airport.

Good points - The lobby area is very nice with a tropical theme. The bar is small but ok. Staff were ok but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. Our room was clean and quite nice. Right next to the RiverWalk so you can walk or ride a boat downtown without having to put up with the... More

Pros: El Tropicano has a decent location on the Riverwalk (although it's a bit off the main tourist area), the staff are friendly, and the beds were comfortable. Cons: Overall, the place is a bit worn out. It seems like they renovated but didn't update everything. Some of the problems with my room: the door did not close completely unless... More

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay. You are absolutely correct in stating that some but not all upgrades have been made. Lots of new carpet, curtains and refrigerators this past year but more to come in 2016. We and all hotels have worked diligently with our state and local authorities and hotel association to get a law... More

3 day stay, lack of dining, elevators not working, hallway configuration and getting to room is a hassle, parking options terrible, air conditioning rattled, shower head broken, alarm clock broken, Narcotics Convention and Cocktail Festival scheduled at same time as Volleyball Tournament, girls could not roam hotel without a parent. Tucan and Turtle in atrium had no friends, beds very... More

I booked a weekend stay for my parents. They were pretty disappointed with staff and the run down hotel. Pictures are definitely deceiving. Walking into their room they noticed roaches the fridge. They complained to the front desk and the staff acted like it wasnt their problem to fix the issue. Avoid staying here...unless this your type of stay.
