They were from the same era as the furnishings. It is very nice hotel considering it's age. It has era appropriate furnishings and some really cool architecture. It doesn't have a restaurant and the desk clerk told me the earliest breakfast was served was at 8 am at a nearby restaurant. It failed mention that the Hilton a block away... More

We ended up staying here through a series of misadventures (read screw-ups on my part) and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel! Full of historic character, almost to the point of being funky, and a very helpful pleasant staff. We stayed in a suite on the third floor. The floors aren't level, the plumbing is slow, but the place is wonderful. Not... More

I am not sure why this is listed as a luxury hotel it's more of a Boutique hotel. I have stayed here at least 3 times. I have tried 3 different rooms. I have liked the rooms. The service was wonderful. The place is pet friendly. Yes the decor is antique and the linens are a bit drab. But really... More

We stayed here to see the fireworks display which is directly across from this hotel. The fireworks display was fantastic, however when the show was over, my husband refused to stay as the bedding and everything was so-so. The rooms are decorated in a vintage type of motif, old tattered lamp shades, moldy tile in the bathroom, musty smell etc.... More

If you'd like a historic experience, this is the hotel for you. This boutique hotel has a rich history, built in 1906 and was, in its entirety (foundation and 3 floors), moved 5 blocks to its current location. The rooms all have antique-looking furniture which I thought was pretty fascinating, though all rooms are decorated differently, which may explain the... More

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmount Hotel in San Antonio for several nights in September. It was a great experience from start to finish. The building is a 100 year old Italianate Victorian, just a few blocks away from the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The service was great, and the room was large, charming and very clean. We... More

Surprisingly horrific! First room felt like we were walking into a 1906 haunted mansion set. Same with second room we tried. Wall light switches are not yet functional and one must stumble through the dark to find where to plug in an antique lamp with hand switch. Finally found outlet behind the old dusty couch. Upgrade to third room in... More

The Service at this hotel is absolutely outstanding. The staff was young, but friendly and extremely helpful! The accommodations were so-so at best. We had a Jr. Suite that overlooked a road with a door that led to an outside shared balcony. The entire room sort of caved inward. (The hotel holds the record for largest structure moved in tact,... Loved this old hotel! It could use an update on the bedspreads and curtains. But if you want a nice quiet spot kind of off the beaten path, this is the place to stay! All the the staff were friendly. Super fast room service! We will be back! Easy walk to The Riverwalk and the Alamo.

This is a nice historic hotel. The hard wood floors are beautiful, the rooms are extra roomy, the bed was comfortable and the staff were nice. Cons: More care could be taken in the bathroom finishes-updating that is consistent with the time period. The bathroom is really small and the cable was fuzzy.
