My husband and I actually live in San Antonio. We thought it would be nice to stay at the Fairmount for our 11 year anniversary. The room was TINY. You could tell it had not been used in a while. Even though the hotel was pretty empty (we only saw one other couple), we were stuck on the 3rd floor,... more

My wife and I popped in for a drink at the bar and were amazed, not only at the lack of "hooch" in a cheaply made margarita but the bill came in at $18.00 for two of them. We left no tip. Go drink at the Hyatt bar on the Riverwalk for a great drink and far less the price. more

Future tourist, please be adivesd of your hotel changeing prices overnight. My family in sa invited me to stay at this establishment to celebrate newyears eve. I lived in cushing texas at the time. They held a room for me, since I was gonna pay for it myself. I was excited and as I was several hours away, from San... more

I stayed at the Fairmount 2 years ago and had problems. They gave me a certificate for another stay to try and make up for it which I thought was really great of them. So we went back this past weekend. Ech. The property was just as bad as it was two years ago. We checked in around 4 and... more

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmount for 7 nights and were extremely pleased. We were treated like royalty. The staff was attentive, accomodating, and professional! This hotel is classy and it has character. I would highly recommend this hotel (we plan to stay here the next time we're in San Antonio). more

Pulling up to the hotel we noticed the character and charm of the hotel . . . you really can say that The Fairmount Hotel is “The Jewel of San Antonio”, it sticks out as being so unique compared to the other hotels downtown. This was our first family vacation with our 14 month old son, so our van was... more

My wife, 7-year-old daughter and I just returned from a weekend in downtown San Antonio, where we stayed at The Fairmount. It's a great alternative to some of the more expensive hotels that are right on the Riverwalk. The Fairmount borders the south side of La Villita, which offers easy access to the river through the Arneson River Theater. The... more

We stayed 2 nights at the Fairmount and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was an initial snafu with Orbitz. Apparently, Orvitz didn't communicate with the Fairmount about my reservation (which was prepaid 5 months ago), but Nathan, the front desk clerk, was quite professional and helpful. He settled the entire issue with Orbitz, and we never heard another word about... more

I had an excellent stay - This is a beautiful hotel!!! And, yes - don't kid yourself - it is an antique - so, the floors are crooked - and it does smell a bit musty - but - it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! And the staff was excellent. Don't expect people to be waiting on you, hand and foot - it... more

We stayed here in May 2007 and were disappointed. Our singular memory of this hotel will forever be an unattended front desk. From the moment we arrived and, afterwards, almost every time we needed anything there was nobody available at the front desk. The reason is that the hotel is understaffed. During our stay, only one person covered the front... more
