We had a very nice stay at the Salem Inn. We were only in town for 1 night on a rainy weekend in March with dog and child in tow. The innkeepers were very accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the suite and the common rooms were given that the property accepts dogs. Our family suite was spacious,... More

My family and I stayed here for 5 days in October. We loved it. Our room was located in the Peabody house. My wife and I heard some noises through the night like someone was moving furniture. At one point we heard footsteps. As we were checking out, we learned that no one was staying above us. This made us... More

There is actually more than one building. Three I believe. The main house is nice but the other two buildings are good as well. Breakfast is only served in the main house. The walk isn't far, about 2-3 blocks. The rooms are of adequate size. Our room had a fireplace and fake logs are complementary. If you ask nicely they... More

Unlike some other reviews here, we found the honeymoon suite at the Curwin house to be a clean, pleasant and private romantic adventure. I don't particularly enjoy (cold) hardwood floors, the carpet was clean and it wasn't worn out, I didn't care that it was "period" incorrect for a room in a historic Inn, I'd rather be cozy than period... I called on a Monday to check on availability for the following Saturday and was told there were a few rooms left but I had to call the next day and speak to someone specific to use a gift certificate. I called back the following day and was told they could not reserve a room with my gift certificate because... More

I am responding to vivanueva’s very negative rating on Feb. 13 because we at The Salem Inn believe it to be completely unjustified and unfair. The gift certificate he had in his possession was a donation we had made to a charitable event and it explicitly stated it was not valid during holidays or special events. He is correct in... More

We only stayed here one night, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel is quite dated but very clean. We had a family room which had its own Kitchen, good if you are staying longer. Breakfast was included in the deal, it was fresh pastries, breads, cereals, fruit etc. Very nice

Stayed overnight in the Captain West House in Room 72. Arrived quite early and was let into the room way ahead of check in time. That was a plus. When booking the receptionist explained this room was very near the front desk and off the lobby and might be noisy. This did not create any problems for us. The only... More

I am from Michigan and decided to pick our daughter up from college just outside of Boston for Thanksgiving weekend. We toured the Plimouth Plantation on Thanksgiving and ate at the Rye Tavern for dinner (excellent!). The next day we traveled to Salem, MA. We stayed at the Salem Inn in the Peabody House #5. It was perfect for our... More

Hello, in contrast to what many other reviews have said. I can neither effuse praise nor trash this establishment. It had some good points (central location, easy walk to many areas of Salem, room was clean, Jacuzzi bath was nice, wi-fi). However, the room decor overall was very plain and worn. Wall to wall carpeting in a 200 year old... More

I wish I could comment on the hotel itself...the decor, rooms, housekeeping, amenities, etc...but I can't because I had to cancel due to a terrible emergency with my dog. I will be the first to admit that I booked my stay within the '7 day window' where deposits are not refunded....who could have planned for my dog to be brutally... More
