If you've ever stayed at a B&B you'll enjoy the same experience at the Salem Inn. State of the art? No, but that's the charm since it feels like you're staying in an old Victorian that belongs to an old friend of the family. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and well maintained and breakfast... more

I stayed at the Curwin House, initially attracted to the nice pictures on the website. When I arrived I was extremely dissapointed. The carpet in the honeymoon suite was unattractive and stained, the bed was very hard, the television was small, and the room was altogether unpleasant and outdated. For the price that we payed, $186 per night, this was inexcusable.... more

The Salem Inn was the perfect hotel to stay in while visiting Salem. It had a victorian charm and my room was very cozy. The hotel was centered perfectly within walking distance of all the attractions Salem had to offer. I spent every morning in the courtyard in the back of the hotel. The hotel employees made me feel like... more

When I arrived I was fortunate to find a space in front of the inn. Later we went out to dinner and then a 2 hour walking tour. We got back late in the evening and the only place I could find was along the side of the building. I was awakened at 8:30am and told to move my car... more

Salem is such a walkable little city that it makes sense to leave your car at home, if that is a possibility! However, the Salem Inn has 2 ample parking lots which service its 3 very close historic buildings. At check-in, each of our guests are given a "Welcome Card" which outlines the amenities that the Inn provides. Included in...

I was very skeptical of the Salem Inn based on all the negative reviews on this site. It was only after my first choice was booked that I decided to stay there. I wound up in room #55, a honeymoon suite, at the Captain West House and it was absolutely wonderful. The Inn is in a perfect location for exploring... more

This was a delightful hotel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. When anything was needed, they took care of it. It would be a problem for those with a mobility disability because of steps but that would be my only negative comment. The breakfast was delightful in a pleasant separate dining room. We enjoyed the complimentary evening sherry also. more

This place has to rank as one of the worst hotels I have ever been too. The online pictures are completely misleading, so beware. The Inn we were booked to stay in turned out to be on a very busy road with no parking and was horrible. We were greeted by two incredibly surly young women who clearly couldn'ty care... more

We are disappointed that the guest ranked the Salem Inn as one of the worst hotels she had ever been to, especially since she made the decision not to stay immediately upon arrival, because she had to walk two doors away to park and the Inn is on a busy street. Had she requested a quieter room, we would have...

we booked a 2 night stay in a family suite. we were promised help with our bags up to the 4th floor since my husband is not well and cannot lift things but when we arrived we were told no one cold help us up the winding stairs, the family suite had a full kitchenette but when I asked what... more

We at the Salem Inn are pleased that the guest liked our beautiful Inn. We hope that she and the seven friends she invited to share a wedding cake appreciated and enjoyed the use of the main guest parlor for their party. This is a room designated for all guests, not for private functions, but our staff overlooked this and...

On a cold winter night, we had a wonderful time in front of a cozy, glowing fireplace, sipping champagne before slipping into our warm whirlpool bath. Our amazing home-away-from-home at the Salem Inn was a huge room in an historic 1800s Federalist captain's home with comfortable king bed, antique furnishings and wonderful ambiance. The complimentary continental breakfast, served in the... more

My "significant other" and I just returned from Salem and had the best stay of our lives! Not only is Salem an amazing, historic little city, but our "home away from home", the Salem Inn, is incredible. It was so great to be able to come back from an exhausting, fascinating day in the city and sit by the fire,... more
