this hotel advertised free wifi; well no wonder there was no wifi!!!!!. that is one detail that was very important for me to stay in contact with my business while i was traveling. the room was nice and clean thats about all i can say for it. the woman who checked us in didn't really have any information on the... The management needs a class in how to treat your patrons. The manager/owner was very rude and confrontational. The room, out dated decor and a hard bed was something I was willing to look past.. it is a hotel room nonetheless. However, the interaction with the owner was negative enough to stain my experience. I hope those in the city... More

This will not be a nice review. The good news is at the end. We travel Europe and the US a great deal and at even half the price for this motel I would not have been happy. We usually use Priceline or Hotwire but there were no deals in Salem MA so we tried The Clipper Ship Inn at... More

The Hotel is decent with nice rooms for the cost. However the owner is rude, snoops around in the rooms, creepily stands in the parking lot counting cars with her clipboard, and worst of all...connected with the snooping, We had only been checked in for a short time when we went to the historic district. The next morning she was... More

Not an easy place to navigate. Thank God for GPS. One of the least expensive motels in area. $120 a night. Room was huge, but very 60s/70s but clean. Bed hard, squeaky, loud. No fridge or microwave. Window air conditioner. Keurig machine with ample supply of coffee which we were grateful for. Not the best area of town, but we... More

I am not reviewing this hotel on the same scale I would normally use to review many hotels because this is an independently owned motel in a town that is often packed with tourists. Comparatively, this is a good deal. We found the room (not a suite) large, clean quiet and comfortable. Three things detracted: one was the bed. Much... More

My sister ,her two girls and I stayed at the Clipper Ship Inn on a recent visit to Salem. I found the rooms to be clean and pleasant. We had the suite and the living room space was large, and the pull out futon was appreciated. The next time I travel through Salem, I would definitely book a room here.

Don't know how anyone could give this a hotel a great review. The beds were flat and hard, the pillows were just as flat, to room smells musty, and no lighting. Had to turn fan/light in bathroom just to hear the TV. Needless to say they were a lot cheaper on the price but if your staying more than one... More

My husband and I have stayed at the clipper ship inn for the past four years we have traveled to Salem. The rooms are average, and give us what we need during our stay. when booking the room, I spoke with the manager and was under the impression I had booked a suite with a refrigerator, however, upon arrival, we...
