We stayed for 2 nights last October and found the room spacious and clean. The staff was courteous and professional, going so far as to guide us in over the phone after getting lost. The Inn is within a reasonable walking distance of all the local attractions. We have already made a reservation for this year.

Booked and paid for a room at 3:00PM. At 9:00PM they called to say they didn't have a room for us. Sounds like someone got a nice tip to give our room away. They were rude and nasty over the phone and actually blamed us for the problem. They didn't offer any help to find us another room. They just... More

Stayed two nights because we wanted to see the sights and learn some of the local history. This place was no more than average. Beds were soso. We had a suite which gave us a little more room. Older place. Good location for a base but you have to use your car to get to middle of town. Parking was... More

My paranoia paid off. I never bring my luggage into room until the bed has been checked. I went to this room and pulled off the sheets and inspected the mattress. Low and behold a clue to Bed Bugs. There were many flecks of black in the sewed areas. I flipped over the box spring and found some fecal residue... More

On the upside: Inexpensive Clean Close to town Small discounts given at a few restaurants Keurig coffee machine in each room...although just a single cupper On the downside: Our GPS seemed to be possessed and would not help us in the least, so bring printed directions with you. My brother came from NH to meet us, used a different GPS... More

Felt this was a good price for tourist area. Room was clean and very spacious. Comfortable beds, nice pillows. Keurig coffeemaker in room with plenty of coffee. Certainly possible to walk to attractions in town but we opted to drive. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were referred a nice seafood restaurant two blocks away that gives a small discount... More

What a HORROR STORY ! We did not realize until check in and in our room we started noticing transients everywhere on the property when you drive in to the Clipper Ship Inn on the left (look like Bates Motel Shacks) come to find out LOW INCOME ROOMS. I feared for my life the entire time we were there and... More

Hotel in middle of Salem is expensive, high rise, congested street parking.... Fortunately, we discovered clipper Inn. On site parking (a must for us,tired from vacation site seeing), parking feet from hotel room door (!!), rooms clean, seats in front of our door to have morning coffee & see sun rise before going on a 5 minute drive to sightseeing... Just finished another stay at the Clipper Ship Inn. Our first stay was a few ago was when my borhters and I were moving my elderly Mother down to New Jersey. Our first impression years ago was a friendly staff, clean rooms, reasonable rates. Those qualities have not changed over the years and that's why we continue to return there.The... More
