This happened last yr. I still get sick when I think about it. Though Salem made our trip much better then the Clipper.... You can bet I wrote the city and told them how rude and crazy our experince was. We are very nice people. We never imagined a crazy owner would come yelling, simply because we had an error... more

I am surprised at some of these negative reviews, we had no issues with staff, location, rooms or cats! The staff was very helpful during our entire stay, Our room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, with extra pillows, we were only a 15 minute walk to the historic area. The area around the room was quiet and we... more

My friends from Iowa and I had a great time in Salem, MA. The staff at Clipper Ship Inn were professional, friendly, and very accomodating. The rooms were very clean and quiet. Parking was free. The Inn was close to everything. Thank you, Clipper Ship Inn. We will return. Karen more

This was by far the WORST MOTEL i have ever stayed at! The owner is RUDE!! and very unprofessional towards the guests. Extremely nosy to the point if I invited someone into my room for 4 minutes, the owner would be there BANGING ON THE DOOR ordering my visitor to leave. There was no toiletries in the bathroom, the heat... more

This is not a fancy motel. It's just what it should be, your basic motor inn. It is clean & lots of towels in the bathroom. For our rather large room w/ a queen bed & coffee maker, we paid $104 including tax. There was plenty of parking & the staff was really nice. The only problem is that it... more

Upon arriving at the Clipper Ship Inn we tried to pay our balance with a personal check. The desk clerk stared at us and said "oh no we don't take personal checks just cash or credit card". I said we were not told about this policy or we would have brought more cash. She said "didn't she tell you about... more

Our stay at The Clipper Ship was a disappointing last night in New England prior to flying out of Boston, back to UK on 3 July. We chose this motel as it was near to the city and we had travelled extensively around New England 2 weeks prior to this last stop in Salem. We had difficulty locating the motel... more

I would recommend the Clipper Ship to anybody that doesn't want to stay at the smaller B&B's/inns or at the more costly larger hotels in downtown Salem. The Clipper Ship seemed to be one of the few places that didn't have a two night minimum, and they are located about five minutes from the touristy part of town. The room... more

A friend and I stayed at the Clipper Ship over a long weekend. We were looking for a cheap place to stay... and we found it. Would have prefered one of Salem's historic b&b's but it was grad weekend and very busy. Still, saw some of the other motel-type places in nearby Danvers and Peabody and we clearly got the... more
