We camped here for one night while we passed through Salem, the treed tent site was nice and private up on a hill and the location was pretty good with just a short drive to the city centre. The only downside to the park was that it had no permanent toilets and we had to use a portaloo.

We booked this place because it was the only park near Salem and near Boston. Driving in made us wonder if we had made a mistake as we went past a large power plant and a sewage treatment center. But we found a very pretty location right next door to two large industrial sites. It does multi duty as a... More

This is an unusual campground. We stayed in an RV in the Safari Field. We didn't have reservations, but check in was smooth. The lady was nice. This is a city park so it was a little different. It was our first experience in a safari field but it worked well for us. I think the $50 was a little... More

Our goal was to find a place to camp near by Salem so we could bring our dogs and not have to worry about a sitter or the stress of boarding them. We decided on Winter Island because the met the basic requirements, a place to park the RV, electric, water, and dog friendly. After driving for 8 hrs we... More

Note to the powers in charge of Winter Island Park: Tossing some signs on a fence, adding rudimentary electricity, and using zip ties to affix water lines to a fence does NOT make this a campground. To be clear, this place is not a campground. It is two things. 1) A public marina parking lot that allows RVs to park.... More

Yes, I agree the office personnel are rude! There is no sewer hookup and e were not told this when we made the reservations. Electric is a joke. Of course, we were blamed for having such a big rig that needed so much. Even on 30 amp the voltage fluctuates so much we had to turn off all electric to... More

The girls in the main office were the rudest girls I've ever had to deal with. They did not care about customer service. In the entrance we asked the girl if we could check out the location she said yes. As honest people we offered to pay and she said she would take it and if we decided to leave... More

We stayed from Fri-Sun on the grassy portion of campground. It's exactly what we thought it would be..parked the trailer and slept there. Since the trolley cost $15 per person ($60 for us) for the day, we decided to drive into Salem. We lucked out and was able to park in a permit only parking lot, got a ticket for... More

The best reason to stay here in your RV is that it is relatively easy to travel into Boston from this location. We took a taxi from the RV park to the commuter rail station and then traveled by train to the North Station in Boston where we could then get on the Boston subway system. RV sites are located... We were indeed on water front as we had been told but on a parking lot, crowded and very noise at all times (since there is a factiry close to it). Sites very close to one another. Showers . No dumping site.
