The hostess was charming, She gave us a tour and we really enjoyed talking to her.The house is very interesting and is withing walking distance to everything. Bedding was terribly old and uncomfortable. No Queen or Kings beds here. The room itself was comfortable and the architecture was amazing. It was clean overall except the bathroom had a musty odor,... More

We loved our stay at the Stephen Daniels House. Kay, our hostess is gracious and so interesting to converse with. The home itself is like stepping back in time, but with all the amenities anyone could need. The house has antiques everywhere, each with its own story. The home and bedrooms are neat, clean, cozy and the bed was very... More

We stayed in Salem this past weekend and it was a lovely experience. Rooms were lovely; as was the hostess (Kay) and staff (Robin). Will definitely return and stay longer. The house was decorated with beautiful antiques and fresh flowers. It was like stepping back in time. Would definitely return but absolutely stay longer. So close to everything.

We just stayed at this bed and breakfast this past weekend and loved every minute of it! Our only regret was not planning to stay more than one night. We loved meeting Kay and Robin and chatting with them at breakfast. Our room was lovely......so much nicer than staying in one of the chain motels. We had a fantastic time... More

One of my very favorite lodging experiences in the world. There are not many houses left in the US built in the 1600s and you can stay at virtually none of them. This is a deeply textured place with a very strong atmosphere. I really could just have sat in it the whole time I was in Salem and had... More

The review of excellent means it was excellent for us. You have to be appreciative of history & uniqueness to stay here. The rooms (one w/ double bed & one single bed) were the oldest in this 1667 property, which is funished with original pieces. One room was huge; the single was not huge, but cozy & fine. Kay, the... First off, DON'T BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS. This is probably the best B&B we've stayed at because of it's history, atmosphere and style. And i'll admit, I found it a little eerie because it's 345 years old! As soon as we walked in the door, Kay was welcoming and took us on a quick tour of the first floor of... More

What a great stay at this wonderful little gem in Salem. My Mom and I stayed here from July 27th through the 30th. Kay greeted us when we got to the B&B and gave us the lay of the land. We both thought she was a trip. She is an older woman and had us cracking up within 5 minutes... More

Got a room here at the last minute on a Monday night, travelling on business. Comfortable, hospitable, and so wonderfully 17thc. in accommodations and atmosphere, that I was surprised (but gratified) to find they did have Internet. So much better than the cold, sterile rooms one often ends up in on business. Thank you, Kay and Robin! T

The Stephens Daniels House is a Salem experience all its' own! A great place to spend not one but at least two nights while exploring the area. Kay, the proprietress is a charming lady with a wealth of information and delightful conversation should you so wish to sit a spell with she and Sabrina. The home is furnished with period... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
