My stay with my family in Stephen Daniel's Lodge was my favorite part about visiting Salem! The beautiful antiques and lovely rooms made me feel like I went back in time (although we still had the basic needs like showers and bathrooms). The tour of the house was amazing. Also, the house is haunted by a cat which I had... More

I can't believe that it's already been a year since we stayed at this great B&B. It was very unique and full of character. The house itself was huge and filled with antiques and other items. Literally every table and corner filled with things to look at and talk about. We only stayed one night but I wish I had... More

I have visited the Stephen Daniels House several times over the past 40 years, and every time I step through the front door it is like stepping back into the 17th./18th. Century. The house is a treasure trove of period antiques, and it`s locations puts most restaurants and other attractions within walking distance. Quite apart from the house itself, spending... More

My sixteen year old daughter and I stayed at the Daniels House late in July while on a self styled Great History Tour of the east coast. She was considerably less enthusiastic about being on the road for 12 days than was I. We both, however, loved this extremely unique experience. Kay and her assistant Robin are charming and welcoming.... More

After visiting family in the Boston area, my husband and I swooped through Salem for one night and a day to see what the area was like. As lovers of old homes, the Stephen Daniels House seemed like a good fit for us and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect to see the main attractions on foot. Our... More

Once again, I stayed at the Stephen Daniels Inn. I was welcomed back by Kay and Robin. I stayed from July 3rd through July 7th. Kay and Robin are the best. I enjoyed having breakfast in the morning wtih them. I love listening to Kays stories, and looking at all the antiques all throughout the house. On Sunday morning, I... More

If you are going to Salem, this is the place to stay!! My brother and I stayed here for a night(May 24th-May 25th) and it was a trip we will never forget. We were greeted by the wonderful Kay, she was so friendly and sooooo funny! She gave us a short tour, and the best word to describe the house... More

The Stephen Daniels House is as close as one can get to spending the night in the House of Seven Gables. The charming mid-1600's home has HUGE fireplaces, comfy four poster beds, colonial furnishings, yummy yummy yummy muffins, and a staircase that is all but secret! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and we made good use of our personal fireplace,... More

Kay Gill and Gal Robin delivered a wonderful experience to me and my wife and dear Sister and Brother-In-Law John on our Thanksgiving Holiday in Salem. Kay offered a beautiful view of life in Salem and welcomed us into her Historical Home. Her Stories added a special bonus to our stay with her. And just a word about Robin. She... More

Bed was very uncomfortable, stairs were too steep for elderly people, and when we got up the next morning, there was no one around, and no breakfast. We left and walked around town, had some breakfast, and came back, and told them we had decided not to stay another night because of the steep steps and they were decidedly less... More

I am really sorry you feel they way you do, I thought we were quite accommodating the way I recall, usually we charge full price when someone cancels without notice on a weekend in October, the busiest time of year for us. I got you a deal and Kay only charged you half price. We serve a beautiful delicious breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
