Just back from another great week of unplugged bliss, riding horses and simply lolling about at Elkhorn Ranch. My grandparents came every spring from the 1950s up through the '70s and they got my brother & me hooked when we were kids. And I now crave being there so much that I've been coming almost every year for the better... More

This is my family's favorite vacation -- both restful and adventurous, comfortable but not pretentious or fussy, great food, friendly family owned atmosphere but very professional and well managed, beautiful scenery, interesting plants and animals -- it's the perfect escape from our normal hectic 'city' lifestyle. And, you don't have to be a horse owner or experienced rider, the guides... More

Thank you Charley and Mary and the entire crew at Elkhorn for an absolutely wonderful week over spring break. The food, the wranglers, the rides, the hikes, and everything else was fantastic. For anyone (family or singles or couples) wanting to get away from the rat race, getting "off grid" at Elkhorn and enjoying the beauty of the desert and... More

Tucked in between two mountains, just off a high plaine, in the beautiful Southwest Arizona country-side is Elkhorn Ranch. Elkhorn is family run and hosts a limited number of guests; accordingly, staff attention is friendly and superb. The guests also get to know each other and many are repeaters. The ranch property is PEACEFUL and the stars at night amazing.... More

What could be more fun than music week at Elkhorn? We just returned from Elkhorn Ranch’s early January music week, where fiddler Sandol Astrausky, guitar/banjo/uke player Rory MacLeod, and mando/banjo player Bill Burke led old-time string jams every evening and entertained guests with rollicking cowboy songs. This to top off a perfect dude-ranch day: a hearty breakfast in the long... More

What a splendid guest ranch this is! We visited during the week when the ranch offers (in addition to everything else) music lessons for aspiring old-timey musicians. In addition to the horseback riding, hiking, gorgeous scenery, star-gazing, comfy cabins, and exceptionally good vittles, there was excellent old-time music each evening with a group of players on banjo, guitar, fiddle, and... My wife and I have been taking dude ranch vacations annually for more than 20 years. We've got some favorites that we've visited multiple times. After our first visit to Elkhorn this month we know it is joining that short list of places we'll be going back to. Everything about this ranch is wonderful. The setting is beautiful; the cabins... I called this the perfect family vacation because it was for us. But it was equally perfect for the couples and singles who were there at the same time. Every person - each owner, staff person and guest- was friendly, welcoming and inclusive. It is a very happy place! It is informal and honestly rustic in the best sense of... More

My wife and I discovered the Elkhorn purely by happy accident on a driving holiday nine years ago. We always talked about returning and were finally able to do so last January when we once again found the same very high standards of eating, accommodation and horse riding. We are booked to return a third time this January 2015 and... More

My 13 year old grandson and I just returned from a four night stay. I have stayed at two other Arizona dude ranches in the past which were fine. The Elkhorn Ranch in Tucson, however, is exceptional, and I look forward to returning again and again. When you are among guests who have been coming for five years to over... More
