Ogunquit, Portland, Camden, famous Bar Harbor and Acadia are beautiful and stunning; and crawling with fellow tourists throughout the short summer season. But Lubec in Washington County is the easternmost town in the USA and that distinction draws a few people; but THIS inn, and THIS restaurant, and THIS whale-watching trip, and THIS view is what you come to Maine... Stayed two nights at the Wharf and had some of the best water views of our Maine vacation! Well appointed, simply furnished rooms that are very clean. The Inn has a large common area with a fully equipped kitchen that guests may use. Complementary coffee and muffins are fresh each morning! You could buy your own lobster and cook it... More

We first stayed at the Wharf when they originally opened about 5 years ago and were thoroughly impressed by its uniqueness. The owners, Judy and Victor, put a lot of planning and work into converting an old concrete and steel Sardine factory into an array of luxurious guest rooms and apartments and added an excellent restaurant especially for fresh fish... Stayed in a room under one of the apartments, away from the actual inn/restaurant. Quiet, comfortable, with a beautiful view of the water. Customer service was excellent, everyone was very nice. It did smell a little like bleach, like other reviewers have noted, but we just opened the windows and it went away. Would stay here again.

The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. I was a bit worried having never been to Lubec and with minimal options for accommodations. Even pulling up to the Inn I still wasn't sure. However, once I entered the two bedroom, two bath "apartment" that we rented for only $150 per night, I was blown away. But... More

We loved the Inn *on* the Wharf (not *at* the Wharf) in Lubec. What a beautiful setting. We stayed in a room named "Sea Salt" for two nights this August. It's in the bottom level of the Apartment building farthest from the main Inn, and the views are idyllic from the covered deck (The cover actually doesn't do a lot... More

The inn and adjoining restaurant are a converted sardine factory and a still working wharf. Rooms have decks overlooking the water. A large commons area offers kitchen, tables, and free laundry facilities. Rates are cheaper than Bar Harbor to the south. We stayed in one of the new detached units just up the hill which was equipped with fridge and... More

If you enjoy the smell of fish and bleach then this is the place for you! When you first walk in the smell of fish assaults your nose followed quickly by the bleach. The walls are paper thin and if your neighbor snores, talks, laughs, or anything else, you will definitely hear it. They put me in a room called... More

After spending several days driving up the coast of Maine and the tourist past of Bar Harbor, Lubec offered a slower pace and the Inn on the Wharf was most welcoming. The Room was very pleasant with and three large windows with an ocean view, a comfortable bed and simple but colorful furnishings. There is no TV in the rooms... More

Stayed one night - really pleased at cleanliness and comfort. Not "luxe" but very comfortable. Ate two meals at the restaurant. Excellent food. A little slow service but I believe that they were surprised by a large group who arrived just before my wife and I. Would love to return.
