Had a very comfortable 2-day stay at the Brownell House. Annie, the owner, is a very kind and earnest hostess. The house is warm and has an easy coziness that immediately made me feel at home. Filled with reading material and brightened by an attentive doggie-host, the front room is a great spot to take a moment to unwind and... more

I stayed at the Annie Brownell House in Providence for 2 nights during a difficult time after a death in my family. This was a great find. I've stay in pretty much every hotel in metro Providence and, although I love the Biltmore usually, I really appreciated the coziness of the Annie Brownell house. Annie, the owner, was accomodating to... more

Our three night stay at the Annie Brownell House was both a good and bad experience. It was conveniently located to Brown University and Thayer St. The house was filled with old furniture and numerous objects hinting at the hostess' English heritage. It was comfortable and the rooms did their job nicely. However, there were no locks on the bedroom... more

On the website, this B & B looked lovely but the real life experience was very disappointing. We stayed 4 nights and the towels were never changed. One day the bed wasn't even made. We left by 9am each day and never returned before 5pm so there was plenty of time. And speaking of the beds, they were old, sagging... more

Our stay at this B&B was wonderful. The owner was very helpful with our questions about dining and shopping. The house was beautiful and breakfast was a real treat! This property is located in an attractive part of the city, with a choice of restaurants within walking distance. Overall our stay was very comfortable and we would recommend this B&B... more

My husband and I chose Annie Brownell House for a romantic weekend away. After reading positive reviews from past guests, we were surprised to arrive at a dusty, cluttered house (i.e. stacks of old newspapers and magazines piled up). While the owner Annie was quite friendly, she was not able to help us with questions we had about neighborhood services... more

We stayed at the Annie Brownell House for one night in summer, 2005. The exterior was being painted but it was not disruptive. We found the room to be nice and clean with some travel brochures for reading material. We were surprised that the individual room doors did not lock though we were given a key to the front door... more

From the moment I started to plan my vacation to my last day at her B&B Annie Thunderman remained an outstanding hostess well seconded by her beautiful dog Lady and her friend Abby. I arrived in Providence in the wee hours of the morning after a flight from hell. That change in my plans didn't cause any problem with her.... more

We are a NYC couple who stayed at the Annie Brownell House on Memorial Day weekend 2005. What a find! After ascending the staircase to a spacious landing, we found rooms that were nicely decorated, with comfortable beds, tasteful fabrics and colonial/federal furnishings- not antiques, maybe, but older pieces that suited this period home. Our modern bathroom was immaculate, with... more

it's a "I will definetely come back " whenever I visit my daughter at RISD. Annie is a wonderful hostess, communicating with her guests, helping them to communicate among themselves. She's a great cook and served us a different, nutritious, delicious breakfasts every morning; even paying attention to everyone's diets and special requirements. She puts a lot of effort to... more
