Depends on what you expect; We found the rooms smaller than expected. Kitchenette was small but adequate for couple days needs if you're not planning on doing much cooking etc.. Not really "rustic" in the good sense - more like average motel room. River outside balcony is nice: can hear the water and that blocks out most car noise. the... more

THis is a great place for what it is. I have found that reviews on tripadvisor are accurate, but don't describe what the property actually is sometimes. This is a bare bones little room for a good price. Our room had a balcony over the river, although that balcony is shared with 3 other rooms. It is more off the... more

I have been staying at the Ponderosa every few years since 1983. All of my previous stays have been enjoyable until now. First off, the "renovation" of the lodge is very disappointing. The cozy mountain atmosphere is gone from the rooms, as noted with the absence of the wood paneling, and rugged furniture. These are the mountains of Colorado, not... more

We were to stay two nights at this older (1950's) lodging but my wife developed a bad altitude headache in the night. She had had two near strokes in the past so felt the need to get her to a lower altitude fast. Checked the next morning about 9:00 AM about canceling out and they told me no refund without... more

We stayed 2 nights at the Ponderosa Lodge while visiting Estes Park. What a find. This is just a great place to stay. Very clean. Mary Ann is such a sweetheart. Makes you feel right at home. After visiting Estes Park we travel on to Vail for a wedding. Upon arriving in Vail my son remember he left the wedding... more

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Ponderosa. It is a great place to sit by the river and relax! Maryann and her staff were very nice and hospitable. Stargazing from the hot tub was especially enjoyable with the river running past us. Shadow even graced me with her presence outside while she was hunting ground squirrels! The only negative... more

We stayed at the Ponderosa Lodge in May. The fresh mountain air, the hot tub with the snow falling, the beautiful hiking, fresh coffee each morning and the wonderful staff.....a treasured moment. We can't wait to return. It was perfect thanks to MaryAnn, Walt and Jim. more

My husband and I stayed here overnight in March. We were traveling around the state and made a stop here. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the same for the bathrooms. These were no frills rooms, but quite adequate, in a great surrounding, and a very friendly host. We would stay here again. more

We just came back from a weekend at the Poderosa Lodge in Estes Park. We had a great time. The room was spacious, very comfortable and *very* clean. Maryann is wonderful and makes you feel home, taking care of every detail. After a day on the park I was disappointed not to have seen the bighorn sheep, but to my... more
