Arrived in Espe Park without a booking on a Saturday not a good move. First few places on our list from Tripadvisors were all full. After looking around we came across the American Wilderness Lodge, what a good find, from the outside it does not look great but the large room (113) we had was very comfortable a double, double... more

The location is great as you can walk to the downtown tourist area easily from here. The rooms are very very OLD. They need to be remodeled. The room smelled like smoke and we requested a non. We paid 104.00 for the night we stayed and found a lot better value the next 5 nights. Glad we moved. more

After reading reviews on this place, I was a little worried. I was PLEASANTLY surprised. The room we had was clean, neat, and had a fully loaded kitchen. It had it's own patio and bbq grill. I checked thru the kitchen drawers and they were spotless. Some one finally figured out how to use fabric softner on the sheets and... more

My family and I recently stayed at the American Wilderness Lodge and were not thrilled with the accommodations There was gunk around the sink, the room and blinds were very dusty, and the mattress pad and sheet were stained. My kids were excited that it had an indoor pool but the pool area was very dirty. Also the sauna did... more

GROSS!!! The matress was very old and was covered in a plastic fitted sheet which crinkled when you moved. Everything was dirty. It was nice to have the kitchenette, but I did not trust that everything was clean. The toilet paper was the cheepest junk I have ever seen! Bathroom---gross. The sheets were old and cheep, stained, gross. Nasty carpet.... more

I understand that this property just re-opened under new management, but the condition of our room was just terrible. It smelled like smoke (it was "non-smoking") and when the heater came on, a nasty smoke smell filled the room (not to mention loud crackles from the heater that woke us all up). The blinds were frayed, there was no water... more

Based on the pictures, I had expected rustic and the price said it was not a newer, high end accommodation. Both would be an understatement. On the positive. The beds were very comfortable, the bed linens and towels were spotless, it is close to downtown, the property was very quiet after 10 pm, and the river really is right outside... more

My husband and I and our 2 kids stayed here for 2 nights after having terrible problems with the staff next door at Mountain Sage Inn. American Wilderness was great. They were so friendly and accomidating. Their service was great. We had a blast swimming in their pool, it was soo warm. The hotel was walking distance from town and... more

My family of 5 scheduled two nights stay for vacation in Estes Park. I booked the American Wilderness Lodge for 2 nights. Upon pulling into the parking lot, we were unsure of the place. Our initial thoughts were "unkept, run down, and old." We decided to look at the room before checking in. We found our room to be very... more
