Opening the door to the room felt like I had stumbled on the set of a 70's motel scene - in a way it was quite fabulous and charming for that reason. But it also smelled like it was a 70's motel room (stuffy, a faint hint of old cigarette lingering two decades later), and the comfort level was 70's... More

My sister and I called to let the lodge know we would be arriving quite late, and talked to a very helpful employee who was happy to make accommodations for us, which was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel. The lodge itself is very retro and located across the road from a gorgeous marina. Parking is... More

I was on a West Coast trip with my 18-year-old high school son and his friend -- two high school boys and a weary dad -- and we selected this motel because of the TA reviews. It's a 1950's era ma and pa motel, lovingly kept up, not modern but with the basic necessities (updated bathroom and wi-fi). I asked... More

This motel is unique, having been made out of one Curly Redwood Tree. The rooms are large and comfortable as are the beds. The walls covered with curly figured redwood boards are beautiful. The location on 101 was not a problem in terms of noise. We particularly enjoyed the covered patio parking as we were visiting during the rainy season.... More

This place is on the south end of Crescent City and is an older but very well kept motel made of Redwood and done in a 1960 modern,Frank Loyd Wright style. The owners are picky about keeping it in pristine condition. It has new carpets this year and that is important for all motels. It is worth the 55 a... More

The owner was friendly and the value was exceptional! We are a family of 5 and took my brother with us. For a large room upstairs with 3 double beds the rate was $90/night. There is a great park down the road (over by the lighthouse/pier entrance) to eat at and let the kids run free. We went out on... More

We've stayed here before, the price has barely changed in 10 years. Made out of a single redwood (which was not cut down for the purpose--was hit with lightening and went down). Like you're back in the 50's, but very very well maintained. Sure, no frig and micro in the room, but it's so unique. Even the old furnishings. Way... More

On a ten day tour up and down the Oregon and California coast, this was our #1 favorite place to spend the night! We had read all about this hotel in various reviews and had a good idea of how retro and unique an inn built using one gigantic curly redwood tree might be. The actual inn EXCEEDED our expectations,... More
