Loved, LOVED this place! Time capsule back to the 50's. I felt like a little kid again. My hubby and another couple were riding Harley's down the coast and had made reservations for here. It's a total step back in time. Very clean and neat. They have not remodeled since it was built in the late 1950's and it was... More

What's not to love? A whole motel made out of one tree!? I stayed here just for the kitsch appeal...and I was not disappointed. Look, you don't stay at roadside motor lodges if you are looking for a high-end experience. You stay at these places because you love vintage neon or post-war roadside Americana. And if that's what you're looking... More

Often times coastal motels will have mold growing in the bathrooms. Not at this place. Very clean room no frills but great price. Friendly staff and easy parking. Two items to note. The windows are the old crank variety, they work well but it would be unsafe to leave them open at night. Since they are aluminum even cracking the... More

Stayed one night and if you are just travelling through Crescent City this is a good pkace to stay. Service is friendly and the room is clean - if a bit spartan. It has Wifi but no hair dryer, fridge, microwave. Rooms are large though and the price is certainly right. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and... More

This is my second stay at the Curly Redwood Lodge. Overall, quite pleased... Clean & large rooms, good location next to the harbour, fast wi-fi, reasonably priced for this locale, very friendly staff, retro, no local riff-raff, ice machine that works, parking right next to the room. My only hope is that the owners would spring for simple microwaves and... More

Spent 2 nights here. Friendly owner and clean rooms. A bit dated, but that was part of it's charm for us. Some road noise, but not enough to cause a problem for us. Although non smoking there is a large canopy outside all rooms where groups can gather to chat, drink and smoke, which could be a problem if it... More

A motel with some character. Clean, spacious room. Basic, but has everything you could want for a couple of nights. Comfortable beds. Good shower. Convenient for a range of places to eat. We can see why it has stood the test of time (opened 1957!).

Pulled in here on a whim and was delighted we did. Excellent value, great location, friendly service from the front desk. The rooms were clean and spacious. What set the hotel/motel apart was the architecture. All the redwood in the rooms and outside paneling came from a single tree, photos available in the lobby. The place had a very retro,... More

Truly, as you drive in toward the lobby you feel as if you are stepping back in time. This motel is frozen in time in the 1960's! The room décor and even the flower planters in the carport were high style in the 1960's.

We stayed here overnight while in Crescent City looking for an apartment. Comments I read about pre-trip relating to noise just didn't happen to us. This motel is so nicely maintained, and although probably built in the mid-50's, (that's a guess) you can only tell that because of the look of it. Managers are excellent. We'll be staying there again,... More
