This was the perfect base for hiking in the Redwood forest. It was located conveniently off the highway. At the front desk we recieved friendly service, the woman told us about the history of the motel and recomended a great mexican resturaunt. The over sized room was clean and there was even a list of the cable TV channel numbers.... more

Fascinating hotel, great rates. Much more intereting and fun than any of the chains. Wifi and the such free. Note...no coffee, fridge or bath (shower excellent). Best for grown ups. more

Based on this site we chose Curly Redwood, but were not real happy. No in room coffee, plus lobby coffee not served til 7:30. no frig. furnishings pretty minimal. looked like thay mave have removed dresser from room, because TV was attched to wall and cords were hanging down and exposed. It wasn't bad, we planned two nights but stayed just one, we have a 2 1/2 year old so we needed a tub, and a frig min and didn't have. It was very roomy but old and could use a face lift. Its location was perfect for what we needed, but again for the price they need to get into... more

I've stayed here many times-if you want a bathtub, and a breakfast this isn't the place for you. It is simple and adequate though. It's close to the highway, but not noisy at night time more

Truly a bargain for what you get: The rooms are very spacious, clean, and memorable. This motel was built in 1957 from one redwood tree. This place will not blend into the haze that is Motel 6/Comfort Inn/La Quinta....et al. Offseason (March, 2009) a single cost us $55. The Curly Redwood lodge is a no-frills, comfortable place to stay in Crescent City. I've stayed there twice now on trips down the coast and have found it to be a very affordable (rates are on their website), friendly, somewhat quirky place to stay. more

the staff are wonderful and fun to talk to. the rooms were clean and it looked like everything was original, down to the older lamps. it was quiet. they provided glass (not plastic!) drinking ware! more
